King Charles and Prince Harry<\/a> might finally be ready to sit down together. With Harry due back in London on September 8 for the WellChild Awards, there\u2019s growing buzz that father and son could meet for the first time since February 2024.<\/p>\n

King Charles Motivated by Harmony, Says Ex-Butler<\/p>\n

Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for Charles between 2004 and 2011, believes the monarch\u2019s driving force is his wish for peace. In his new book \u201cThe Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service\u201d<\/a> and in an interview with GB News<\/a>, Harrold explained, \u201cI know what the King\u2019s like, he likes everyone to be happy. He likes everyone to get on. So you can guarantee the King without question wants it resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harrold also suggested that recent meetings between Harry\u2019s team and palace aides point to progress. \u201cWhat we\u2019ve seen recently is definitely signs that it could happen,\u201d he said, noting that Charles will make the final decision about whether to see his son.<\/p>\n

The reunion would carry added significance. Harry\u2019s visit coincides with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s death<\/a>, and with the King\u2019s cancer diagnosis weighing heavily, insiders say there\u2019s a \u201cheightened sense of urgency\u201d to mend ties while there\u2019s still time.<\/p>\n

Prince William Reportedly Thinks the Meeting is a \u2018Terrible Idea\u2019<\/p>\n

While King Charles may be open to a fresh start, Prince William appears less convinced. According to The Royalist<\/a>, a close friend of the heir to the throne believes William views the potential meeting as a \u201cterrible idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, William is a loyal soldier,\u201d the friend said. \u201cHe respects his father\u2019s rank, and he respects his father\u2019s right to make his own decisions, and he won\u2019t make a fuss if it happens. But he thinks a Harry meeting is a terrible, terrible idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, a palace insider told Us Weekly<\/a> that the moment could be \u201cmake-or-break\u201d for the royal family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it goes well, it could lead to other family members being open to better relationships,\u201d the insider added. \u201cIf things get leaked negatively, then it\u2019s done, and there\u2019s no chance [for peace].\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor Charles, a meeting with Harry means establishing harmony,\u201d the insider said. \u201c[He] understands that headlines and strife are not good for anyone, and he wants things to move forward. For Harry, it\u2019s an opening for his children to have a relationship with the grandfather.\u201d<\/p>\n
