{"id":395307,"date":"2025-09-03T19:23:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T19:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/395307\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T19:23:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T19:23:16","slug":"full-list-of-edinburgh-road-closures-amid-4-major-protests-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/395307\/","title":{"rendered":"Full list of Edinburgh road closures amid 4 major protests on Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/scottish-independence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish independence<\/a> supporters, anti-war campaigners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/palestine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestine<\/a> activists and far-right agitators will all take to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/local-news\/edinburgh-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a>&#8216;s streets this weekend in several different areas.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Below is a full list of the protests in order of when they begin, including any road closures.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Stand Up\u00a0To Racism (SUTR)\u00a0 Edinburgh counter-demonstration<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>TIME: To start at 11am<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n    Assembling at the\u00a0Scottish Parliament, anti-racism activists are to gather to counter a protest organised by far-right group &#8220;A Force for Good&#8221;.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    The rally is being backed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/local-news\/falkirk-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Falkirk<\/a> group Save our Future &amp; Our Kids Futures, which has made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25395287.falkirk-protests-face-off-outside-hotel-housing-asylum-seekers\/?rel=cl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">headlines in recent weeks<\/a> after hosting protests outside of a local hotel housing asylum seekers.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25438158.keir-starmer-responds-graham-linehan-arrest-free-speech-claim\/?rel=cl_lsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keir Starmer responds to Graham Linehan arrest with &#8216;free speech&#8217; claim<\/a>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    SUTR organisers said: &#8220;We need a mass anti-racist movement, made up of trade unions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/lgbt\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">LGBT<\/a>+, community and faith groups and refugee rights organisations that can stop the rise of the far right on our streets and show that Scotland is anti-racist, welcomes refugees and can will stop this dangerous rise of the far right.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    &#8220;Join us on Saturday and \u2018say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!\u2019&#8221;.\n  <\/p>\n<p>    &#8220;A Force for Good&#8221; protest<\/p>\n<p>\n    <strong>TIME: From 12pm, for a 12.30pm start<\/strong>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    Pro-Union group A Force For Good was founded in 2012 by Alistair McConnachie \u2013 who was kicked out of Ukip\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/news\/16399120.meet-pro-union-activist-worked-orange-order-denies-jews-murdered-gas-chambers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for saying he did not believe gas chambers were used to kill Jews during the Holocaust<\/a>.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n    He was an organiser for the party between 1999 and 2001 but was barred after making the comments in an email to fellow members.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    Falkirk group Save our Future &amp; Our Kids Futures, who have reiterated several times they do not have any links to the far right, will be in attendence.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    The group have said: &#8220;All are welcome. Bring your Saltires and flags of the British Isles.&#8221;\n  <\/p>\n<p>  Scottish independence Edinburgh march and rally<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>TIME: To start at 12pm, estimated to end 4.30pm<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Activists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25426926.see-route-details-edinburgh-pro-independence-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">will march through\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/edinburgh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25426926.see-route-details-edinburgh-pro-independence-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0<\/a>following demonstrations in Glasgow and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stirlingnews.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Stirling<\/a> earlier this year.\n<\/p>\n<p>  The route is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-gazette.co.uk\/local-news\/johnstone-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Johnstone<\/a>\u00a0Terrace, Lawnmarket, High Street, Canongate, Horse Wynd then on to the Scottish Parliament.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n  The march is due to kick off at 12:30pm and will end around 4:30pm and a 50-seat bus service has been organised to pick up attendees across Brechin, Forfar and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/dundee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dundee<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A rally will take place at the Scottish Parliament.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Road closures in Edinburgh from 11am until 3pm for the independence march:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <strong>Johnston Terrace<\/strong> \u2013 In its entirety\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Castlehill<\/strong> \u2013 In its entirety\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Upper Bow<\/strong> \u2013 In its entirety\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Lawnmarket<\/strong> \u2013 From Castlehill to George IV Bridge\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Lawnmarket<\/strong> \u2013 From George IV Bridge to High Street\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>High Street<\/strong> \u2013 In its entirety\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>George IV Bridge<\/strong> \u2013 From Victoria Street to Bank Street\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n    <strong>Bank Street<\/strong> \u2013 In its entirety\n  <\/li>\n<li>\n park\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  \u00a0Palestine march and Defend Our Juries Edinburgh protest<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>TIME: To start at 1.30pm from the Mound<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Activists are expected to defy the ban of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/palestine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestine<\/a>\u00a0Action at\u00a0a national demonstration in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/local-news\/edinburgh-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0defence of the right to protest.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n    As part of a demonstration\u00a0to demand an end to UK arms sales to Israel and\u00a0a full Scottish boycott of Israel, campaigners have said they will\u00a0stand in solidarity with the\u00a0Defend Our Juries campaign.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/palestine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestine<\/a>\u00a0march being is also being held, organised by Stop the War (STW) Scotland, Scottish CND, the Scottish Trade Union Congress and others, which will start start at the foot of the Mound and head to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/uk-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Government<\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/local-news\/edinburgh-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a>\u00a0offices.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0<a solidarity with Defend Our Juries protests<\/a>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n      They will reach the Queen Elizabeth House at the same time that activists from DOJ\u00a0and Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign are planning to defy the terrorism laws by holding up signs in support of banned direct action group, Palestine Action.\u00a0\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n      The march will begin at\u00a02pm on Saturday, from
