{"id":395313,"date":"2025-09-03T19:26:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T19:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/395313\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T19:26:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T19:26:18","slug":"newlay-consultation-launched-over-new-forge-village-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/395313\/","title":{"rendered":"Newlay: Consultation launched over new Forge Village development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A housing developer is holding a public consultation event into early ideas for the residential-led regeneration of the former Newlay railway station and goods yard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acrehowe.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acrehowe<\/a> is hoping to develop the former industrial site off Pollard Lane, which is a short walk away from Kirkstall Forge Station.<\/p>\n<p>The new Forge Village development would be the other side of the railway track from CEG\u2019s multi-million pound Kirkstall Forge development.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation will discuss site layout options and improving access to Kirkstall Forge Station. There are also different options surrounding building flats, town houses or a mixture of detached family homes with some town houses.<\/p>\n<p>Acrehowe\u2019s consultation document states:\u00a0\u201cA new community nestled in the heart of Newlay. Continuing the regeneration of this once heavily industrialised setting by bringing the richness and interest of a Yorkshire gritstone village.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStriking a balance between tranquil countryside living and convenient, sustainable access to Leeds, this new community will celebrate local heritage, embrace the surrounding landscape and forge a renewed sense of place for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have named the scheme Forge Village to evoke the\u00a0character of an early 19th century village, reflecting a time\u00a0when forge workers and management co-existed in the early industrial era, when Newlay still retained a semi rural character.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"702\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Screenshot-2025-09-03-at-14.10.27-702x900.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-189895\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The online consultation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acrehowe.co.uk\/consultations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">can be found here<\/a>. The in-person consultation will be held at the Abbey Inn on Pollard Lane on Saturday, September 20 from 12.30pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>Acrehowe is a land promoter that specialises in securing development consents for new housing led schemes. It specialises in assembling complex sites faced with delivery impediments.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A community meeting will held by the Newlay and Whitecote Residents\u2019 Association (NAWRA) on Tuesday, 9 September at 7pm at the Rock Pub.
