Britain’s Got Talent<\/a> star Max Fox has denied the allegations that his audition was a fixed set-up. <\/p>\n

The singer shocked the judges and audience on Saturday (19 April)<\/a> as he emerged from the crowd and begged Simon Cowell to let him audition. He then went on to perform a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ in an attempt to impress the panel. <\/p>\n

After Fox’s passage to the live semi-finals was secured via the Golden Buzzer, several viewers expressed their belief that the nature of the audition was pre-planned rather than purely spontaneous, a charge that Fox denied during an appearance on This Morning<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

“The day before, I got some free tickets for the auditions \u2013 three rows back from the panel,” he told presenters Josie Gibson<\/a> and Andi Peters<\/a>. “It was just in the moment \u2013 there were some old dears behind me and I asked them if I should ask Simon<\/a> if I can sing. <\/p>\n

“It wasn\u2019t a set-up. There\u2019s no way of me being able to physically prove it, but I get [the accusations]. There are so many reality shows where storylines are set up, but this wasn\u2019t one and that\u2019s all I can say.” <\/p>\n

Peters corroborated Fox’s version of events, sharing that he received a text from a friend who worked on BGT<\/a>, with the message reading: “No, it wasn\u2019t a set-up. Thank god he was good because we had to wait around an extra hour.”<\/p>\n

While Fox is preparing for another performance during the semi-finals, the show recently announced that there would be a change in tradition as the golden buzzer was confirmed to appear in the live shows<\/a> for the very first time. <\/p>\n

Should the golden buzzer be pressed during the semi-finals, the lucky act will immediately be awarded a place in May’s grand final rather than relying on the public vote, with all four judges and hosts Ant & Dec having the opportunity to press it.<\/p>\n

The semi-finals begin on Saturday (26 April) and run until 24 May, with two acts progressing from each show to the grand final, which takes place on 31 May. The winner will be awarded a cash prize, along with a spot at the Royal Variety Performance. <\/p>\n
