(Teresa Suarez\/ Pool Photo via AP)\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/>France\u2019s President Emmanuel Macron, centre, attends a meeting with Ukraine\u2019s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, not pictured, at the Elysee Palace, in Paris, France, on Wednesday [Teresa Suarez\/Pool via AP Photo]Peace deal<\/p>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/3\/putin-open-to-meet-zelenskyy-in-moscow-kyiv-says-unacceptable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open to meeting<\/a> Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Russian soil: \u201cDonald [Trump] asked me for such a meeting, I said: \u2018Yes, it\u2019s possible, let Zelenskyy come to Moscow\u2019,\u201d Putin said in Beijing on Wednesday.<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine\u2019s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded to Putin\u2019s invitation, saying the Russian leader \u201ccontinues to mess around\u201d by \u201cmaking knowingly unacceptable proposals\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Putin made his offer even though he knows there are \u201cserious proposals\u201d from seven countries to host a meeting between the two leaders, which Zelenskyy was ready for at \u201cany point in time\u201d, Sybiha said.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"tr-story-p1\">French President Emmanuel Macron said that \u201cpreparatory work\u201d on post-war security guarantees for Ukraine was complete, and that European allies are \u201cready\u201d to offer such guarantees \u201cthe day a peace deal is signed\u201d with Russia.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"tr-story-p1\">Macron hosted Zelenskyy at the Elysee Palace in Paris on the eve of a meeting of leaders of the \u201ccoalition of the willing\u201d group of nations that support Kyiv.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regional security<\/p>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country would continue to \u201cfully support\u201d Russia and its army as a \u201cfraternal duty\u201d of its defence treaty with Moscow, the country\u2019s state media KCNA reported on Thursday.<\/li>\n<li>President Donald Trump said the United States <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/3\/trump-hosts-polands-nawrocki-offers-more-us-troops-to-european-ally\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could increase its troop presence<\/a> in Poland and pledged to secure the country\u2019s defence during a White House meeting with its conservative nationalist president, Karol Nawrocki.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Here are the key events on day 1,288 of Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine.
