Paris Jackson has criticised an upcoming biopic of her father, Michael Jackson<\/a>, saying she had \u201czero per cent involvement\u201d in the film, which she suggests has been \u201csugar-coated\u201d in a broader swipe at Hollywood biopics that contain \u201cfull-blown lies\u201d.<\/p>\n

The comments came just two days after the actor Colman Domingo, who plays the family patriarch Joe Jackson in the film Michael, praised Paris\u2019s contribution.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, while hosting the amfAR benefit gala for Aids research at Venice film festival, Domingo told People magazine<\/a> that Paris and her brother Prince were \u201cvery much in support of our film\u201d.<\/p>\n

Domingo said Paris had been \u201cnothing but lovely and warm\u201d to him. \u201cI\u2019m excited to be here at Amfar tonight with Paris,\u201d he said. \u201cIt feels like that\u2019s a nice way for us to be together.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night Paris took to Instagram to reject Domingo\u2019s version of events.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be telling people I was \u2018helpful\u2019 on the set of a movie I had zero per cent involvement in lol that is so weird,\u201d the 27-year-old singer and actor wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest \/ didn\u2019t sit right with me, and when they didn\u2019t address it, I moved on with my life.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and God speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

She later expanded on her comments in follow-up Instagram stories, saying she had been explicitly told the production would not address her notes.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I just butted out and left it alone because it\u2019s not my project,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to make whatever they\u2019re going to make. A big reason why I haven\u2019t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cA big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad\u2019s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they\u2019re gonna be happy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paris continued to critique the \u201csugar-coated\u201d Hollywood biopic model generally: \u201cThe narrative is being controlled and there\u2019s a lot of inaccuracy and there\u2019s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn\u2019t really fly with me. Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The biopic, which has been produced in conjunction with the Jackson estate, has been gestating since at least 2019.<\/p>\n

It attracted controversy when Puck magazine<\/a> reported that the film was facing rewrites and reshoots after a third-act plotline about one of Michael Jackson\u2019s accusers could not be used for legal reasons.<\/p>\n

A source close to the production denied the reports. \u201cThe Michael Jackson biopic is not in total chaos,\u201d the source told People<\/a> at the time. \u201cThe inflammatory headlines about the moving halting are simply not true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson\u2019s nephew, will make his feature debut as the pop megastar in the biopic, whose cast also includes Miles Teller, Nia Long and Kat Graham.<\/p>\n

Michael is set for release on 24 April 2026.<\/p>\n
