Prince Harry and Meghan Markle<\/a> have been married since 2018<\/a>, but prior to walking down the aisle<\/a>, Harry maintained an active romantic life.<\/p>\n He had an on-and-off romance with Chelsy Davy<\/a> spanning seven years, who is frequently described as “the one who got away,” something Meghan likely isn’t thrilled to hear about.<\/p>\n The turbulent relationship reached a sudden conclusion — becoming permanently “off” — when Davy turned to Facebook<\/a> to post an unexpected update.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Prince Harry and King Charles rift ‘not a good look’ for Royal Family as speculation mounts over reunion<\/a>READ MORE: Meghan Markle’s crucial role in royal reconciliation and protecting Prince Harry from ‘alienation’<\/a><\/p>\n The Duke was left devestated, when learning “the relationship was over in the click of a button,” as reported by Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl, particularly because Davy had ended things in such a public manner.<\/p>\n Based on Nicholl’s account, Harry learned about Davy’s true feelings in the headlines, which intensified the pain of the split for the young royal.<\/p>\n Harry wrote about his romance with Davy in his explosive memoir Spare, that she was comfortable to be around and that it seemed like a good fit.<\/p>\n He said: “I loved Chels’s ease, that she wasn’t complicated.”<\/p>\n Among the qualities Harry valued in Davy was her lack of “throne syndrome,” that she didn’t have her “eye on a crown.”<\/p>\n Davy cared for Harry as an individual, but she wasn’t prepared for his demanding lifestyle as a serviceman, reports suggest.<\/p>\n Harry and Chelsy were on and off for seven years<\/p>\n According to Nicholl, Kate Middleton was willing to stand by William during his military career, whereas Davy wasn’t prepared to wait for Harry, who was completing his Air Force training.<\/p>\n Nicholl said: “She was lonely and desperately homesick.”<\/p>\n She added: “She told Harry she felt the relationship had run its course and removed from her finger the blue topaz ring he had given her as a birthday present.”<\/p>\n Chelsy called it quits with the click of a button<\/p>\n Despite things not working out between Harry and Davy, they remained on good terms, with Harry even inviting his former flame to his wedding, which she attended.<\/p>\n Harry and Meghan tied the knot in 2018 and relocated to the US in 2020. They reside in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.<\/p>\n Harry is set to return to the UK on September 8 for the WellChild Awards and a potential meeting with his father, King Charles.
