{"id":397782,"date":"2025-09-04T17:16:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T17:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/397782\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T17:16:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T17:16:22","slug":"spire-southampton-hospital-praised-after-cqc-inspection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/397782\/","title":{"rendered":"Spire Southampton Hospital praised after CQC inspection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Spire Southampton Hospital has maintained its overall \u2018Good\u2019 rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an unannounced inspection of its surgical services.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The hospital also received \u2018Good\u2019 ratings across all surgical areas, including safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness, and leadership.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Thelma Henderson, hospital director at Spire Southampton Hospital, said: &#8220;We are proud to have maintained our &#8216;Good&#8217; rating and especially pleased that inspectors recognised our commitment to safe, personalised care for our NHS and private patients, and community collaboration.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Our teams work tirelessly to ensure patients feel safe, informed, and supported, and we are pleased that the inspectors have recognised the role we play within our community.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The CQC highlighted the hospital\u2019s positive safety culture, noting its openness, honesty, and commitment to learning from other hospitals.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Staff were described as qualified, skilled, and experienced, with patients reporting that they felt cared for and supported throughout their treatment.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  One patient told inspectors: &#8220;I honestly couldn\u2019t ask for more.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;All staff (are) lovely, caring, and super professional.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The hospital\u2019s support for patients with dementia and neurodiverse needs was also praised.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The CQC commended Spire Southampton&#8217;s community engagement and partnerships with the local NHS trust and Integrated Care Board, which have helped reduce waiting lists and improve access to care.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The hospital was also recognised for its investment in advanced technology.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In 2024, it installed a \u00a31.8m da Vinci surgical robot to treat prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Spire Southampton is one of only three hospitals in England \u2013 and the only independent hospital \u2013 to receive consecutive annual commendations for cardiothoracic care.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The hospital has now maintained this status for ten years running.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Spire Southampton Hospital has 67 inpatient beds across four wards, a critical care unit, and a 17-bed day care unit.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It also has six operating theatres, an endoscopy suite, and a cardiac catheter lab.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The outpatient department includes 16 consulting rooms, three treatment rooms, and a minor operations suite.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Across the UK, 98 per cent of Spire Healthcare\u2019s inspected hospitals and clinics are rated \u2018Good\u2019, \u2018Outstanding\u2019, or the equivalent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Spire Southampton Hospital has maintained its overall \u2018Good\u2019 rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an unannounced&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":397783,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4316],"tags":[105,4348,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-397782","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-healthcare","8":"tag-health","9":"tag-healthcare","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115147163872193087","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/397782","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=397782"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/397782\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/397783"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=397782"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=397782"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=397782"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
