Whether he\u2019s balancing his role as an actor or father, Josh Duhamel admits he has \u201cdad guilt\u201d while juggling his busy schedule in showbiz.<\/p>\n
The actor\u2019s latest role in \u201cLondon Calling\u201d as hitman Tommy Ward gives a glimpse of the delicate balance it takes to have a career while raising a son. During the press run, Duhamel shared how he relates to his character and takes on roles far away while raising a pre-teen and a toddler.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do. Unfortunately, not much shoots in Los Angeles anymore, so you’re sort of forced to go on the road,\u201d he told our entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno. \u201cLuckily, I have a wife who’s more than willing to bring the circus along. So that’s good.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the action-comedy, Tommy is a hit man who flees from London to Los Angeles, and he must babysit his new mob boss\u2019 son, Julian (Jeremy Ray Allen), for a mission while teaching him how to become a man.<\/p>\n
Duhamel is a proud dad of boys: Axl, 12, whom he shares with his ex-wife Fergie, and his younger son, Shepherd, whom he welcomed in January 2024 with his wife, Audra Mari.<\/p>\n
He explained how having his 12-year-old son in school can be a \u201cchallenge\u201d when working on projects away from home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat becomes the hardest part is balancing where you’re going to shoot, how long you’re going to shoot, and how often you’re able to come home,\u201d the \u2018All My Children’ alum said. \u201cIt’s a huge priority for me, because you only get these kids once. Then they’re grown up and they’re gone. So, it’s a huge priority.\u201d<\/p>\n
Duhamel gushed about how Axl is \u201can amazing kid\u201d and he\u2019s already giving him life lessons that he can carry on into his adulthood.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing that I really love doing is starting to teach him independence, starting to teach him things that he’s going to have to learn. And it starts with the basics, taking out the garbage, picking up your plate, filling up the dishwasher, things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Duhamel is not on set, the \u201cRansom Canyon\u201d star lives a quiet life away from Hollywood with his wife and kids at their North Dakota home, which he says is filled with farmhouse chores.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe best thing is this cabin that we have back in North Dakota that makes him sort of step up and help, because there’s so much to do,\u201d he said. \u201cI really spent a lot of time teaching him the basicshow to change a tire, how to change a spark plug, how to do all kinds of different things that he wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to do in Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for what he\u2019s teaching his toddler, the 52-year-old actor jokes his \u201c19-month-old is still pooping his pants so that he’s not there yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
