A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murder <\/strong>after the death of a man in Edinburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n The male youth, who we cannot name for legal reasons, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court <\/a>on Thursday. The boy, of Edinburgh, was charged with murder and with allegedly carrying a blade in a public place.<\/p>\n He made no plea or declaration. The teenager was remanded in custody while the case <\/a>was committed for further examination.<\/p>\n He is due to reappear in court <\/a>within the next eight days.<\/p>\n Police were called to an incident in the capital’s<\/a> Great Junction Street, near to Bonnington Road, at around 2am on Tuesday.<\/p>\n John McNab<\/a>, 22, was found injured but sadly died at the scene.<\/p>\n Devastated loved ones said John was the “life and soul of his family” in moving tributes<\/a> posted on social media.<\/p>\n His cousin Khloe Nicholson wrote<\/a>: “The news none of us have ever expected, don\u2019t even have words right now. Heartbroken doesn\u2019t even compare to what we as a family are feeling.<\/p>\n “My darling baby cousin<\/a>. A life taken far too soon. You were the life and soul of our family and you brought the biggest smile to each and everyone of our faces without fail, I will forever treasure the memories we have especially of our dancing and the most horrendous singing.<\/p>\n “The most precious angel in the sky. God only takes the best and that\u2019s exactly what you were! Our darling boy wee John<\/a>. Forever 22. Fly so high up there with grandad. I love you forever and a day baby cuz.”<\/p>\n Another cousin, Tamara Nicholson, added: “The most devastating <\/a>news no one ever wanted to hear. We lost the most beautiful soul this morning. I have no words to describe how I feel right now, everyone\u2019s world has been turned upside down.<\/p>\n “You were the kindest <\/a>and most loving person ever. I hope you’re having a beer up there with grandad. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy”.<\/p>\n Forensic officers were seen combing the street<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n A blue tent was erected at the scene <\/a>while the street was taped off.<\/p>\n Several police officers<\/a> were stationed at the road, with two squad cars parked on either side of the cordon.<\/p>\n Specialist officers <\/a>are continuing to provide support to John’s loved ones.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Kevin Tait, of the Major Investigations Team, said: \u201cI would like to extend my sympathies to John\u2019s <\/a>family and friends at this very difficult time.<\/p>\n \u201cEnquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances <\/a>and anyone with information should contact the inquiry team through 101, quoting reference number 0239 of Tuesday, September 2, 2025.<\/p>\n![\"John](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757014579_864_0_CapturePNG.png\")
