Bookings at the new restaurant, that started at the back of a pub during lockdown, are now live<\/p>\n
Bookings are officially open for the brand-new home of Indian Caf\u00e9 Racer, as the much-loved Birmingham restaurant makes its long-anticipated move to larger premises on Bristol Street, the new site opens on Thursday 4 September.<\/p>\n
Originally launched in 2022 from the back of The Wellington pub, the cult favourite has outgrown its original space and is now relocating to a 65-cover restaurant just up the road to meet demand.<\/p>\n
The new location, at 88\u201390 Bristol Street promises to keep the same bold flavours and charming atmosphere that made the original a hit, while offering more space for loyal regulars and first-time diners.<\/p>\n
Founder Azad Kayes grew up in a family of restaurateurs. Inspired by a research trip to India and fuelled by a no-rules approach to running a restaurant, he launched Indian Caf\u00e9 Racer during lockdown with a clear vision: to showcase the energy of India\u2019s streets through food, in a relaxed, modern setting. Within months, the restaurant built a cult following and an army of regulars. <\/p>\n
While the vibe remains laid-back, the food continues to push boundaries. The expanded menu includes:<\/p>\n

Juicy Lamb Ribs \u2013 Robata-grilled, fall-off-the-bone lamb
Farzi Steak \u2013 A meat-free marvel made with aubergine and portobello

Kolkata-style Kosha Murghi \u2013 On-the-bone chicken steeped in tradition
Fan favourites like Gobi Manchurian, Chicken 65, Lamb Biryani and Rajastani Lamb are still front and centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe never imagined it would grow this fast,\u201d says founder Azad Kayes. \u201cWhen we started at the back of a pub during lockdown, it was about getting our food into people\u2019s hands, nothing more. But the support we\u2019ve had from the community has been unreal and this new space is for everyone who has supported us. Our restaurant at The Wellington will remain open, and we\u2019ll be keeping the name Indian Caf\u00e9 Racer which fuses the vintage \u201ccaf\u00e9 racer\u201d motorcycle scene of 1960s Britain and India\u2019s vibrant caf\u00e9 culture.\u201d<\/p>\n
