Inspired by a research trip to India and fuelled by a no-rules approach to running a restaurant, he launched Indian Café Racer during lockdown with a clear vision: to showcase the energy of India’s streets through food, in a relaxed, modern setting. Within months, the restaurant built a cult following and an army of regulars.

While the vibe remains laid-back, the food continues to push boundaries. The expanded menu includes:

Truffle Paneer Tikka – Creamy tandoor-charred paneer with truffle
Juicy Lamb Ribs – Robata-grilled, fall-off-the-bone lamb
Farzi Steak – A meat-free marvel made with aubergine and portobello
Mango Fish Curry – South Indian flavours with a zing of raw mango
Kolkata-style Kosha Murghi – On-the-bone chicken steeped in tradition
Fan favourites like Gobi Manchurian, Chicken 65, Lamb Biryani and Rajastani Lamb are still front and centre.

“We never imagined it would grow this fast,” says founder Azad Kayes. “When we started at the back of a pub during lockdown, it was about getting our food into people’s hands, nothing more. But the support we’ve had from the community has been unreal and this new space is for everyone who has supported us. Our restaurant at The Wellington will remain open, and we’ll be keeping the name Indian Café Racer which fuses the vintage “café racer” motorcycle scene of 1960s Britain and India’s vibrant café culture.”

Bookings are now live, reserve your table here: www.sevenrooms.com/explore/indiancaferacer/reservations/create/search/?date=2025-09-03&halo=120&start_time=ALL&venues=indiancaferacer%2Cindiancaferacerthewellington&utm_source=chatgpt.com

CULT FAVOURITE INDIAN CAFÉ RACER MOVES TO BIGGER SITE TO CATER FOR DEMAND Bookings at the new restaurant,…

[7820
855,748,393,4884,137573,2599,16,15
0":"post-398577","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-birmingham","8":"tag-birmingham","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-england","11":"tag-great-britain","12":"tag-indiancaferacer","13":"tag-restaurant","14":"tag-uk","15":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
