{"id":398909,"date":"2025-09-05T03:19:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T03:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/398909\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T03:19:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T03:19:17","slug":"violent-thug-threatened-to-kill-partner-in-glasgow-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/398909\/","title":{"rendered":"Violent thug threatened to kill partner in Glasgow home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Michael Kelly, 41, turned on his partner at a flat in Glasgow&#8217;s Springburn on August 18, 2023.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Enraged Kelly smashed the woman&#8217;s\u00a0head off a door frame before he got on top of her and put his hands around her neck.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kelly, of the city&#8217;s Royston, repeatedly told his victim during the horror ordeal that he was going to kill her.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He pleaded guilty\u00a0at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25209744.glasgow-sheriff-court-news-interviews-updates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow Sheriff Court<\/a> to assaulting his then-girlfriend to her injury.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He also admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards her.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The court heard that the pair had been together for two years at the time of the attack.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kelly had been out drinking heavily that day and went to his partner&#8217;s\u00a0home at 2.30am.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ NEXT:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/25442704.glasgow-mans-involvement-people-smuggling-gang-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow man hid migrants, including children, in truck in smuggling operation<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Prosecutor Jacky Wall said: &#8220;The woman\u00a0asked Kelly to leave due to his intoxicated state, however, he refused.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;He began acting belligerently towards her and she asked him to leave again at 3.40am.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Kelly shouted at her that he was going to kill her.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kelly grabbed his guitar and smashed it against a wall before he turned his attention towards his girlfriend.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Miss Wall added: &#8220;He grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the floor, then repeatedly struck her head off the door frame, causing a wound to her ear and head.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;He dragged her by the wrist and threw her on a bed, got on top of her and placed his hands around her neck.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;He shouted that he was going to kill her and asked if she wanted to see her children again.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ NEXT:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/25434179.man-sentenced-dangerous-driving-glasgows-m8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Road worker put in danger after driver swerved in front of truck<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kelly then dragged the woman\u00a0to the bathroom, where he rubbed her head forcefully in an attempt to wipe the blood.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She made attempts to speak to 999 but was incoherent at the time.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Police later attended and found her in a &#8220;distressed&#8221; state with blood on her face.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kelly had fled the scene by this point.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The woman was taken to hospital, where she was found to have suffered injuries to her head and torso.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  There was dry blood around her ear and wounds to her neck and elbow.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Kelly was later traced by officers and stated: &#8220;I smashed my guitar but I didn&#8217;t threaten to kill her, why would I threaten to kill my girlfriend?
