war in Ukraine <\/a>has far-reaching consequences for global security and economic stability, welcoming India\u2019s ongoing engagement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. \u201cIndia has an important role to play in bringing Russia to end its war of aggression and helping create a path towards peace. This war carries global security consequences and undermines economic stability. So it is a risk to the entire world,\u201d she said in a post on X.<\/p>\nPrime Minister Modi invited both leaders to India for the next India-EU Summit, expected to be held in early 2026, building on the momentum from the EU College of Commissioners’ visit in February.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooking ahead, we plan to agree on a joint strategic agenda at the next EU\u2013India summit, as early as possible in 2026,\u201d Von der Leyen wrote on X.<\/p>\n
The three leaders also exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues, including efforts to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine. PM Modi reiterated India\u2019s steadfast support for a peaceful resolution and restoration of stability.<\/p>\n

PM Modi later posted on X, highlighting the importance of the partnership. “Had a very good conversation with European Council President Ant\u00f3nio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Reaffirmed our shared commitment for an early conclusion of the India-EU FTA and implementation of the IMEEC corridor. Exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and efforts for bringing an early end to the conflict in Ukraine.”<\/p>\n
Both sides agreed to remain in close touch to strengthen the India-EU Strategic Partnership, built on shared democratic values and a common vision for global peace and prosperity.<\/p>\n
