{"id":399168,"date":"2025-09-05T05:34:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T05:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/399168\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T05:34:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T05:34:13","slug":"stephen-odonnell-drops-truth-bombs-to-the-celtic-board-about-the-signing-of-kelechi-iheanacho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/399168\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen O&#8217;Donnell drops truth bombs to the Celtic board about the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>When Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic in January, not even the most negative of Celtic supporters thought the club would be in this current situation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/michael-nicholson-aware-of-stinging-open-letter-sent-to-celtic-board-as-fans-await-response\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Celtic board have always taken verbal hits<\/a>, but this time around, they managed to outdo themselves, especially with how they have dealt with the striker department.<\/p>\n<p>Just 24 hours after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/celtic-summer-2025-transfers-signings-exits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 2025 summer transfer window<\/a> slammed shut, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/simon-donnelly-offers-celtic-kelechi-iheanacho-defence-as-new-signing-debate-continues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic announced the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho<\/a> as a free agent after his contract at Sevilla was mutually terminated. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a signing that hasn\u2019t gone down well with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic Park<\/a> supporters because, on top of that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/how-adam-idah-is-really-feeling-about-his-celtic-transfer-deadline-day-exit-to-swansea-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adam Idah has left for Swansea City<\/a> in a \u00a37 million deal, and many feel that adequate replacements haven\u2019t come in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2227137786-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla FC celebrates after scoring against Schalke\" class=\"wp-image-312371\" \/>Photo by Alex Gottschalk\/DeFodi Images\/DeFodi via Getty ImagesStephen O\u2019Donnell\u2019s strong message to the Celtic board after signing Kelechi Iheanacho<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s \u00a317 million of striker quality that has gone out of the door. How has it been replaced? <\/p>\n<p>A youngster, with zero senior appearances, signing from Fulham (Callum Osmand), and an unknown figure coming in from the J-League (Shin Yamada). On top of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/kelechi-iheanacho\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iheanacho<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Go Radio, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/stephen-odonnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephen O\u2019Donnell<\/a> expressed how that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a> don\u2019t need to be in positions where they are signing free agents and they have \u2018plenty of money\u2019 in the bank to properly enhance the squad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a Celtic perspective, the signings, have they brought in enough quality to replace what left?\u201d questioned O\u2019Donnell. \u201cI don\u2019t think so.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a tough couple of months for the club to try and get everyone bedded in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the Iheanacho signing being a panic: \u201c100%. I don\u2019t think Celtic needs to be in a position to be trying to get free agents.\u00a0I think Celtic have plenty of money to be spending and getting the people they want in early. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I would say would add more restlessness to the Celtic support is that they were disappointed coming out of the Champions League. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen followed up by a disappointing performance against Rangers, albeit the result was fine.
