Drivers are being warned to expect delays during work to improve a busy junction between Leeds and Bradford. <\/p>\n
The work is to help reduce congestion at the Dawsons Corner roundabout in Pudsey as part of a \u00a344m scheme, Leeds City Council said. <\/p>\n
The eastbound lane of Bradford Road towards Stanningley will be closed for six weeks from Monday, with vehicles being diverted along the ring road. <\/p>\n
Some footpaths and cycle routes will also be closed, the local authority said, but alternatives will be provided. <\/p>\n
The scheme will add a new route for pedestrians and cyclists, aiming to make it easier for people to travel in more sustainable ways.<\/p>\n
The council said the changes to the junction will reduce congestion, improve bus journey times, provide safer crossing facilities and help to support “economic growth across Leeds and Bradford”.<\/p>\n
Some bus stops will also be affected by the works, with the lane closure due to end on 17 October.<\/p>\n
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s deputy leader and executive member for economy, transport and sustainable development, said: “We thank everyone for their ongoing patience while we continue to work hard at Dawsons Corner. <\/p>\n
