The mega-smash Rock and Roll musical, Buddy, will visit the Lowry this September as a part of its UK tour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The original \u2018jukebox\u2019 musical \u2013 has enjoyed phenomenal success, playing a record-breaking 4,900 performances over 614 weeks on tour in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n

The show has also done 5,822 performances over 728 weeks in London\u2019s West End \u2013 and will come to the Lowry from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 September.<\/p>\n

Loved by critics and audiences alike,\u00a0Buddy\u00a0tells the enduring story of\u00a0the musical icon\u2019s meteoric rise from his Southern rockabilly beginnings to international stardom, culminating in his legendary final performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa.<\/p>\n

The show will also show his tragic and untimely death on February 3, 1959 at the age of just 22.<\/p>\n

His untimely death became known as \u2018the Day the Music Died\u2019 as Don McLean called it in his song\u00a0American Pie.<\/p>\n

In 18 short months the bespectacled boy from Lubbock, Texas, revolutionised the face of contemporary music, and would influence everyone from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen.<\/p>\n

And the show itself will feature a multi-talented cast of actor-musicians, Buddy presents two terrific hours of music with over 20 of Buddy Holly\u2019s greatest hits, including such timeless classics as That\u2019ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, Everyday and Rave On.<\/p>\n
