Chancellor Rachel Reeves<\/a> revealed last month that the review would guarantee the state pension system remains “sustainable and affordable”.<\/p>\nThis might lead to another age rise, initially planned for the 2040s, being accelerated. The review is scheduled to deliver its findings in March 2029.<\/p>\n
The DWP has published a schedule outlining when workers can retire and when they can achieve state pension age under the revised framework. Reaching the state pension age and retiring will also grant access to additional perks such as complimentary bus passes, among other benefits.<\/p>\n
Older persons (State Pension Age) bus pass<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- State Pension Age Eligibility<\/strong> Outside London: You qualify when you reach the State Pension age<\/strong>, which is currently 66<\/strong> for both men and women. Within London: Greater London residents aged 60 or over<\/strong> are eligible for the Older Person\u2019s Freedom Pass<\/strong>, offering free travel on buses, Tube, DLR, London Overground, most National Rail services, etc The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS)<\/strong> allows free off-peak bus travel across England for those at State Pension age and eligible disabled people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Disabled persons bus pass eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\nEligibility for the disabled person’s bus pass typically includes one or more of the following:<\/p>\n
\n- Receipt of higher-rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Receipt of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)<\/strong> with at least 8 points<\/strong> in \u201cMoving around\u201d or \u201cCommunicating verbally\u201d categories<\/li>\n
- Receipt of the War Pensioner\u2019s Mobility Supplement (WPMS)<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Being blind or partially sighted<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Being profoundly or severely deaf<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Being without speech<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Having a disability or injury with a substantial and long-term adverse effect on ability to walk<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Being without arms<\/strong>, or having long-term loss of use of both arms<\/li>\n
- Having a learning disability<\/strong> (defined as arrested or incomplete development of mind, with significant impairment of intelligence and social functioning)<\/li>\n
