{"id":400108,"date":"2025-09-05T13:44:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T13:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/400108\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T13:44:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T13:44:14","slug":"16-liverpool-pubs-to-close-next-week-as-staff-sent-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/400108\/","title":{"rendered":"16 Liverpool pubs to close next week as staff sent message"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Metrocola, The Monro, The Old School House and The Papillon will all be impacted<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_Untitled.jpg\" alt=\"Monro pub Liverpool\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>The Monro pub in Liverpool<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A number of pubs across the city are set to close their doors next week. 1936 Pubco is closing all 16 of its <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool-bars\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool venues<\/a> on Monday, September 8.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This includes the likes of The Bookbinder and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/lark-lanes-oldest-pub-lovingly-32209296#:~:text=Most%20recently%2C%20the%20pub%20has,at%2011am%20until%201.30am.\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The Masonic Arms on Lark Lane<\/a> as well as The Mayflower Inn on Pilgrim Street and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/tried-new-monro-pub-first-29761107\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The Monro on Duke Street.<\/a> However, it is not all bad news, as staff received a message about the closing. Staff were informed the closure would be happening as a \u201cthank you\u201d to them for their hard work over the last 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">1936 Pubco will be taking the opportunity presented by the one-day closure to throw a party for all employees. The party will be at St Peter\u2019s Tavern on Seel Street, where staff can enjoy free food and drinks and celebrate a great summer for the business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Head of marketing, communications and business development for 1936 Pubco, Emilia Bona, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">told the ECHO:<\/a> \u201cAnyone who\u2019s worked in the hospitality industry will know it\u2019s absolute graft.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_JS377128002-1.jpg\" alt=\"The Masonic Arms on Lark Lane\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Masonic Arms on Lark Lane(Image: Photo by Colin Lane)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Our staff work so hard right across the business, from bartenders to our maintenance team, our chefs, our managers and everything in between.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re really proud to be such a big employer in the city\u2019s hospitality industry with hundreds of staff working in our pubs, bars and restaurants. We wanted to send a message to all our staff to say \u2019thank you\u2019 for their hard work, which is why we\u2019re closing every venue on Monday to throw them a massive party down at St Peter&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ll be putting on a spread, dishing out drinks tokens and inviting everyone who works for us to enjoy a big night out. It\u2019s been a brilliant year for 1936 Pubco that\u2019s seen us open three new pubs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_The-new-look-Pilgrim-on-Pilgrim-StreetLiverpoolPic-Andrew-Teebay.jpg\" alt=\"The Pilgrim\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Pilgrim(Image: Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;We resurrected <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/gallery\/inside-legendary-georgian-quarter-pub-31436512\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The Pilgrim in April<\/a> and opened The Mayflower the same month. In August, we completed our restoration of The Masonic Arms, turning what used to be The Lodge into a good old-fashioned community boozer that we think respects its history on the lane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cOpening three new pubs in a year doesn\u2019t come easy. Across the industry, we\u2019re seeing six pubs closing every single week, and we\u2019re made up to be bucking that trend by bringing old pubs back into use and breathing new life into some beloved city institutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cNone of this would be possible without our incredible staff, who put in long hours and hard work to make 1936 Pubco what it is.
