Commission President Ursula von der Leyen\u00a0announced the EU\u2019s 19th package of sanctions against Russia \u2014 designed \u201cto bring President Putin to the negotiation table\u201d \u2014 would be unveiled in early September.<\/p>\n

Ukraine and its allies have long called<\/a> for the U.S. to follow suit and inflict more punishing sanctions on Moscow in a bid to drain Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s war chest.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump set a two-week deadline<\/a> for the Kremlin to end its invasion of Ukraine or else face \u201cmassive sanctions or massive tariffs or both\u201d \u2014 but he has yet to pull the trigger.<\/p>\n
