{"id":400434,"date":"2025-09-05T16:41:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T16:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/400434\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T16:41:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T16:41:12","slug":"nigel-farage-says-theres-every-chance-of-general-election-in-2027-nigel-farage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/400434\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigel Farage says \u2018there\u2019s every chance of general election in 2027\u2019 | Nigel Farage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Nigel Farage has said there is every chance of a general election in 2027, declaring he will run on a pledge to \u201cstop the boats\u201d within two weeks of entering No 10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Speaking at the Reform UK conference in Birmingham, he said the chaos in government and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2025\/sep\/05\/angela-rayner-stands-down-over-stamp-duty-row\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angela Rayner\u2019s resignation as deputy prime minister<\/a> meant the party needed to be \u201cready\u201d to fight a contest two years early.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He said Rayner\u2019s actions \u201cscream of entitlement\u201d and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/labour\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour<\/a> government was even worse than the Tories who went before it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">With Keir Starmer preparing a reshuffle to replace Rayner, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/brexit-party\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reform UK<\/a> leader laid into the \u201ccabinet of people wholly unqualified to run our country\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Speaking without an Autocue or script, Farage said Rayner quitting \u2013 not just as housing secretary but elected deputy leader \u2013 meant there would be an internal battle in Labour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He said: \u201cAlready they are facing the threat of Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana \u2026 the left of Labour will rear its voice and we are about to witness a split in Labour, too \u2026 I think there is every chance now of a general election happening in 2027 and we must be ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Farage announced that Zia Yusuf, the party\u2019s efficiency chief and former chair, would be its new head of policy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He said a core policy before the election would be to stop small boats carrying people seeking asylum from crossing the Channel within two weeks of taking office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWe will stop what is a threat to our national security, what is a danger to girls and women on our streets,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will stop the boats and we will detain and deport those who illegally break into our country, doing what nearly every normal country around the rest of the world does. You cannot come here illegally and stay: we will stop the boats within two weeks of winning government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Keir Starmer and his predecessor, Rishi Sunak, have both struggled to stop dangerous crossings, amid rising public anger on the right about the housing of those seeking asylum in hotels, while charities are calling for safe and legal routes for refugees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Reform leader said he had brought forward his speech by three hours to address the fact that the government was in crisis. He walked on stage to rock music and fireworks, with a break in the middle of his speech for the former Tory cabinet minister Nadine Dorries to talk about her defection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">She said the government was showing it could not manage the economy and that Labour was \u201cfracturing and dividing into two\u201d. Dorries added: \u201cWe are in deep trouble and you can\u2019t look at either of the two main political parties up till now to save the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Farage and Dorries were preceded by the former Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns, the new Reform mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, who came on stage in a sequined blue jumpsuit bellowing out a pop song she wrote herself called Insomniac. They have just given up on their ability to stop the boats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">A Labour party spokesperson<strong> <\/strong>rejected Farage\u2019s criticisms, saying: \u201cNigel Farage could have used his conference speech to offer more than just anger without answers and to say more than just \u2018don\u2019t know\u2019 to the problems facing the country. He didn\u2019t. It was the same old parade of complaints we\u2019ve heard before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cHis answer to the charge that Reform is a one-man band was to unveil one of the faces of failure from the last Tory government, Nadine Dorries.
