Liverpool fans will look back at their summer transfer window with contentment, with the Merseyside club splashing the cash to improve Arne Slot\u2019s squad.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Premier League<\/a> champions boosted their options across the pitch, with big money signings making the Reds a daunting prospect in 2025-26.<\/p>\n

Liverpool signed Alexander Isak<\/a> and Florian Wirtz, while the English champions also boosted their options at full-back.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

However, potentially the one missing puzzle piece was Liverpool\u2019s<\/a> failure to add a key target close to the transfer window closing.<\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi<\/a> was well publicised throughout the summer, with the Merseyside club having a \u00a335 million<\/a> offer for the England international rejected.<\/p>\n

With the centre-half\u2019s contract at Selhurst Park expiring in June 2026, it was believed the Eagles would cash in on their asset now rather than lose him for free in 12 months\u2019 time.<\/p>\n

However, with Palace pulling the plug at the 11th hour, their attempts to sign Guehi in the future may well have just become more difficult.<\/p>\n

Spanish newspaper Sport<\/a> suggest Guehi is on Barcelona\u2019s \u2018agenda\u2019 and he is \u2018being monitored\u2019 by Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

A fight for Guehi\u2019s services<\/p>\n

Given that a new club could sign Guehi without having to spend a transfer fee, there will be no shortage of suitors for the English defender next year.<\/p>\n

The former Chelsea centre-half has shown his importance to Palace in recent years and is now also a mainstay in the England senior squad.<\/p>\n

For Liverpool, with Virgil van Dijk now 34 and a lack of depth in the other central defensive options, signing Guehi would vastly improve Slot\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n
