{"id":401643,"date":"2025-09-06T03:37:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-06T03:37:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/401643\/"},"modified":"2025-09-06T03:37:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T03:37:18","slug":"celtic-is-a-much-better-place-to-be-than-birmingham-says-charlie-mulgrew-kyogo-furuhashi-wishes-he-was-still-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/401643\/","title":{"rendered":"Celtic is a much better place to be than Birmingham says Charlie Mulgrew&#8230; Kyogo Furuhashi wishes he was still there"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Celtic\u2019s forward options are severely lacking after the recent transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A summer transfer window which began with the departure of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/cesc-fabregas-shares-how-nicolas-kuhn-felt-at-celtic-prior-to-16-5m-como-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nicolas Kuhn to Como<\/a> did not really get better from there on, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/brendan-rodgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brendan Rodgers<\/a> missed out on a number of key targets.<\/p>\n<p>Deals for the likes of Jakob Breum, Louis Munteanu and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/brendan-rodgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most recently Kasper Dolberg have not come to fruition<\/a>, despite Rodgers being assured on the club working to improve the squad.<\/p>\n<p>The club\u2019s main priority of the start of the season was to qualify for this season\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/champions-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Champions League<\/a>, and despite a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/celtic-handed-champions-league-boosts-as-four-kairat-almaty-stars-forced-to-miss-second-leg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">favourable draw against Kairat Almaty<\/a>, they also failed to succeed on this front.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to argue that the January sale of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/celtic-hero-joins-kyogo-furuhashi-at-birmingham-city-after-hyunjun-yangs-move-collpases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyogo Furuhashi, who now plays for Birmingham<\/a>, has left a gap which remains unfilled. As much as Maeda\u2019s going through and you\u2019re hopeful, you\u2019re thinking\u2026 \u2018I don\u2019t know if he\u2019ll score that.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019ll be playing for Birmingham right now, wishing he was still at Celtic. It\u2019s just a much better place to be, and play. That\u2019s the reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s in Birmingham, and although Birmingham are a big club, I just think that playing for Celtic, potentially in the Champions League and winning trophies\u2026 it\u2019s a hard one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Had Kyogo made a different decision in January, he could\u2019ve been playing in Europe\u2019s premier competition, rather than England\u2019s second tier.<\/p>\n<p>Kyogo Furuhashi not the only star Celtic have failed to replace<\/p>\n<p>Along with Kyogo and the aforementioned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/nicolas-kuhn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kuhn<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/jota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jota<\/a> is another star Celtic are struggling with the absence of, after a long-term injury sustained in May.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/brendan-rodgers-celtic-transfer-deadline-day-message-that-was-lost-in-bbc-sportsound-feed-dropout\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brendan Rodgers has commented on the goals his side have lost<\/a> since the side\u2019s last campaign, as well as the challenges that come with trying to fill those gaps.<\/p>\n<p>The sudden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/how-adam-idah-is-really-feeling-about-his-celtic-transfer-deadline-day-exit-to-swansea-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">departure of Adam Idah to Swansea<\/a> is unlikely to help. The striker may not have always earned rave reviews during his time at Parkhead, but his 20 goals last season are still something that will be missed.<\/p>\n<p>For Mulgrew, Kyogo will be wishing he was able to help\u2026 instead, he will be linking up with other former Celtic stars in an attempt to get to the Premier League.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Celtic\u2019s forward options are severely lacking after the recent transfer window.
