THE National Open Youth Orchestra will be in concert at Lighthouse Poole with a programme of acoustic and electronic music chosen to break down barriers.<\/p>\n
Hailed as one of the most exciting youth orchestras in the world, the National Open Youth Orchestra (Noyo) No More Barriers concert will feature 15 young disabled and non-disabled musicians delivering an afternoon performance on Saturday 10th May at 3pm.<\/p>\n
Noyo will perform new pieces commissioned for the orchestra\u2019s mix of acoustic and electronic instruments, including the Clarion accessible instrument.<\/p>\n
Two new commissions \u2013 the piano concerto Ring Out! by British award winning composer Liam Taylor-West, and Fragile by Yfat Soul Zisso, on the theme of the environment \u2013 have been chosen by the musicians themselves.<\/p>\n

The programme also includes their take on Meredith Monk\u2019s energetic, minimalist Parlour Games, and a joyful interpretation of the jazz funk tones of Lucky Chops\u2019 Behroozi.<\/p>\n
Barriers, written by past orchestra member Oliver Cross, is a heartfelt tribute to lost friends and fellow disabled musicians.<\/p>\n
The relaxed performance is suitable for all and welcoming to neurodivergent and disabled audiences, families, and anyone who may benefit from a more informal atmosphere with a flexible approach to noise. Audience members are free to come and go from the Lighthouse Poole concert hall as needed.<\/p>\n
There will also be a relaxed seating area with bean bags, and a chill out area outside the concert hall, and the event will also be BSL interpreted. Tickets are \u00a31 for under 25\u2019s.<\/p>\n
