A man charged with the murder of a young woman will appear before the city’s crown court today.<\/p>\n
Michael Ormandy, 34, is charged with the murder of Rebekah Campbell<\/a>, who died after suffering stab wounds inside a flat at Knowsley<\/a> Heights in Huyton<\/a> at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, April 15.<\/p>\n Officers who attended the scene administered first aid to Ms Campbell, 32, until paramedics arrived, but she died later of her injuries in hospital.<\/p>\n Ormandy, of Linacre Road in Litherland<\/a>, was arrested on the same evening and charged with murder<\/a> two days later.<\/p>\n He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court<\/a> on Saturday, April 19 for his first appearance. He spoke only to confirm his address and his date of birth.<\/p>\n He was not asked to enter a plea because, due to the severity of the charge<\/a>, his case can only be dealt with at the crown court<\/a>. Ormandy, who was dressed all in grey, was remanded in custody to appear before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Tuesday, April 22.<\/p>\n In a statement issued through Merseyside Police<\/a>, Ms Campbell’s family said: “She was a happy young woman with her whole life ahead of her and had a genuine heart of gold. If it meant putting herself out to help someone, she wouldn\u2019t hesitate.<\/p>\n “We are so proud of her.
