Everyone keeps asking me for an omelette – I feel like Gwen from Gavin and Stacey\"Emma<\/p>\n

I love a good omelette and it’s something the kids enjoy too, but there’s only so many times you can watch one fall apart in the pan before resigning yourself to the fact that, actually, perhaps it’s just easier to have scrambled eggs all round.<\/p>\n

However, with a fresh determination to do things differently this school year – and for my children to leave the house with something more substantial than a chocolate brioche and a few grapes down them – I decided to invest in an omelette maker from Aldi.<\/p>\n

Having heard good things about these gadgets, I gathered it would be worth the \u00a39.99 spend, and maybe my teenagers would even manage to use it themselves with any luck.<\/p>\n

I didn’t really need to read the instructions to figure out how it works, but I gave them a glance anyway.<\/p>\n

You simply make the omelette mixture in the usual way, add a bit of cooking oil or spray to prevent any sticking to the plates, and once the green light goes off, you add the mixture to either side.<\/p>\n

Pop down the lid to get it cooking and in less than 10 minutes – seven to be precise – you have the perfect omelette.<\/p>\n

The good thing about it is there’s no need to be standing over it like you would with a pan, so for those seven precious minutes, you can be sorting drinks, packing lunches, reminding people to put their shoes on, or whatever else needs doing in the morning.<\/p>\n

There’s quite a bit of steam coming out of the sides, so it’s not something you’d let little ones use on their own, but it’s perfect for kids who are just starting to make their own meals – and they taste lovely too.<\/p>\n

Those non-stick coated plates mean it lifts out of the machine with ease and there’s little left behind to clean.<\/p>\n

I’m now being asked for omelettes so often that I’ve begun to feel like Gwen from Gavin and Stacey, whose signature omelette-making is a recurring joke in the series.<\/p>\n

Whether mine would match up to hers is anyone’s guess, but I’ve not had any complaints so far. I reckon even Nessa would say they’re ‘tidy’.<\/p>\n
