\n\t\t\tSILHILLIANS can now register to take part in the latest round of a scheme which has already helped thousands go green and save money on their energy bills.<\/p>\n
Known as the Big Community Switch, the collective energy switching scheme is designed to secure better energy deals for households, helping them switch energy suppliers, move to a 100% renewable electricity tariff, and potentially save money on their energy bills.\n<\/p>\n
It uses the bargaining power of a large group to help secure lower prices from energy suppliers.<\/p>\n
A new auction with trusted and vetted suppliers is taking place and residents can register their interest to take part for free until October 31.<\/p>\n
Once the auction is complete, participants will receive a personal offer via e-mail, allowing them to decide whether the new tariff is right for them with no obligation to switch providers.<\/p>\n
Since 2015 the Big Community Switch has helped more than 8,000 Solihull residents save a staggering \u00a32.05million and reduce CO2 emissions by 3,987 tonnes.<\/p>\n
\nSolihull Council\u2019s Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Mark Parker, said: \u201cSwitching energy suppliers can be a daunting task. At Solihull Council, we are pleased to see the Big Community Switch return to offer households competitive deals via a hassle-free process.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last auction saw more than 430 Solihull residents sign up to help take control of their energy costs and save money on their bills, so I encourage others to take advantage of the scheme and register for free, with no obligation to switch.\u201d<\/p>\n
George Frost, spokesperson for Big Community Switch, said: \u201cRising energy costs have placed a significant burden on households. This scheme offers a practical starting point for residents to make an informed decision about switching their energy supplier.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy coming together as a community through this scheme, people in Solihull can access tariffs that might not be available to them individually.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
