When it comes to ranking the best place to live, needing to have a mix of everything is a top priority to bag the top spot. And one place near Cardiff<\/a> which passes that test with flying colours is Penarth.<\/a> Known for its trendy-meets-traditional vibe, it has easy access to both sea and city and the countryside all at the same time.<\/p>\n

Penarth was recently crowned the best place to live in the entire country by Garrington Property Finders<\/a>, which acts as a buying agent for clients looking to purchase property<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It claimed the number two spot in the value for money category\u201d, Garrington Property Finders notes. “A typical family home there costs \u00a3502,497 after average prices softened by 5.1% in a year, making this prime location exceptional value.”<\/a><\/p>\n

That means, contrary to popular perception, living in this gem of a place might actually be more affordable than you think.<\/a><\/p>\n

Garrington Property Finders also describe Penarth as \u201can elegant seaside town just three miles from the centre of Cardiff\u201d, adding; “Famous for its Art Deco pavilion and pebble beach, the town looks out across the waters of the Severn Estuary and came 31st overall in our ranking.”<\/p>\n

In terms of what might draw people to the area, the list is endless.<\/p>\n

The seafront has changed over the years, with new businesses joining the popular stretch by the water and bringing different kinds of energy to the area.<\/p>\n

Coffi Co has brought fresh life to the seaside town with its popular rooftop seating area.<\/p>\n

Also joining the area recently was Silures, at Holm House which opened their second venue as a luxury hotel having originally opened in Cardiff, starting as a restaurant and bar in Roath.<\/p>\n

But as well as cool coffee shops and bars, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the slower side of Penarth as there are a range of activities you can get involved with, from a leisurely spot of golf at the Glamorganshire Golf Club, or Wenvoe Castle Golf club.<\/p>\n

You could also take a trip out to Pugh\u2019s Garden Village which is an award winning garden centre conveniently located on Port Road, just off from Culverhouse Roundabout.<\/p>\n

But one of its standout features has to be Windsor Arcade.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something for every generation in this picture perfect corner of the area, as there are a number of Gen Z friendly hang outs here, including Refresh Juice and Wellness Bar, as well as more traditional feeling tea rooms, and even a sweet shop.<\/p>\n

Penarth has also been consistently praised for its strong transport links, with it being recently named as one of the top commuter towns in the UK as it’s just a 10 minute journey away from the capital. You can read more about this story here. <\/a><\/p>\n

On foot, or by bike, Penarth also has easy access to Cardiff Bay<\/a> Barrage, where you could take a stroll straight down to Millennium Stadium, or enjoy one of the many restaurants in this tourist hotspot.<\/p>\n

If you want to see the sort of thing your cash could get you in Penarth, at the time of writing, we found a number of appealing properties at around and under the \u00a3500,000 mark, including modern apartments to well-maintained semi detached homes.<\/p>\n

This fully renovated flat<\/a> on Victoria Square is on offer for \u00a3300,000 and boasts two double bedrooms, and could make the perfect choice for a couple looking to enjoy a slightly quieter life in pretty Penarth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a trendy new apartment available in Windsor Gardens for \u00a3290,000 – ideal if you prefer more of a fresh, modern feel.<\/p>\n

There was also this semi-detached period property<\/a> on Penlan Road which is on the market for \u00a3300,00. Although it is described as requiring a little refurbishment, overall it looks as though it would make a dreamy family home in the sought after area with a little bit more love.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, you could also go for this lovely looking Victorian terraced house<\/a> on Queens Road that is being sold for \u00a3295,000.<\/p>\n
