Just days after the release of season two<\/a> of her Netflix<\/a> lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan<\/a>, the Duchess of Sussex<\/a>, was dealt a major blow as her products were put under the spotlight. The show, in which she unveils cooking and hosting tips, also saw the release of food items under her brand<\/a>, As Ever. This included her signature flower sprinkles, wildflower honey, herbal lemon and ginger tea and shortbread cookie mix, which range from \u00a36 up to \u00a320.<\/p>\n

Among the products in Meghan’s collection was an Apricot Spread in keepsake packaging, priced at \u00a310 for 12 servings, while the jar costs \u00a36. During the series Brand Meghan, Is She Worth It?, Channel 5 put the item to the test as three food experts blind ranked the spread against Lidl’s own and St Dalfour. However, the Duchess’s spread failed to impress as it was labelled “rubbish” and an expert slammed it as “too watery.”<\/p>\n

While mixing the spread in the bowl and showing how watery it was, one said, “That literally looks like caramel.” During the blind taste test, a second accused the expert of stirring it “in a special way to make it look unappealing.”<\/p>\n

After taking their bites, they remained unimpressed and described the spread as a “thin puree,” before adding: “It’s got no texture,” while the third said: “It’s not very good.”<\/p>\n

They issued their final verdicts after comparing each apricot spread against a bite of toast, and much to their own surprise, they preferred Lidl’s one over Meghan’s version.<\/p>\n

As for the St Dalfour jar, they said: “It was a little more jelly-like,” but likened it to marmalade and as one said: “There’s more fruit in that,” then pointed at Meghan’s and remarked: “There’s nothing in that.”<\/p>\n

Once they agreed that Meghan’s apricot spread would be ranked at the bottom, the food experts labelled it as “rubbish” and exclaimed: “No,” when they saw that it was from As Ever.<\/p>\n

As one justified their decision with “it dribbled,” a second brushed off their ranking and claimed: “It was a misunderstanding.”<\/p>\n

Despite this, Meghan’s product launch was a huge success, with immediate sell-outs of various items from the initial collection of eight items including jams, honeys, flower sprinkles, and cookie mixes.<\/p>\n

Although the mum-of-two made her Netflix<\/a> return, it’s speculated that she teased a major career pivot<\/a> and could be returning to her blogging roots.<\/p>\n

In a series of photographs shared on Instagram<\/a>, Meghan included a snap of a playlist that she and the Netflix<\/a> crew enjoyed listening to, with one song on the list being The Frim Fram Sauce by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, believed to be an ode to Meghan\u2019s former blog.<\/p>\n
