{"id":403699,"date":"2025-09-06T22:17:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-06T22:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/403699\/"},"modified":"2025-09-06T22:17:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T22:17:13","slug":"stony-creek-to-host-iconic-melbourne-cup-trophy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/403699\/","title":{"rendered":"Stony Creek to host iconic Melbourne Cup Trophy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STONY Creek Racing Club (SCRC) will play host to one of the most famous trophies in the world, with the 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour coming to South Gippsland.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, September 14, the iconic $850,000, 18-carat-gold Melbourne Cup trophy will visit Meeniyan Town Hall from 11am\u201312pm, bringing the prestige of the race that stops a nation to our region.<\/p>\n<p>SCRC CEO Jason Benbow said the club was thrilled to be selected as one of just 35 Australian destinations on the tour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Cup is such a significant part of racing culture and history, and to get to bring it to Meeniyan is really special. It\u2019s something our community will remember for years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The free community event will feature a Q&amp;A with SCRC CEO Jason Benbow, kids entertainment including face painting and a colouring competition, plus complementary CWA scones and tea. The public will also have the rare opportunity to take photos with the Melbourne Cup trophy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our local community to connect with the magic of Australia\u2019s most iconic race,\u201d said Jason.<\/p>\n<p>The event will officially launch Stony Creek\u2019s 2025\/26 Summer Racing Season, which will bring five exciting race days to the region.<\/p>\n<p>The season kicks off on Sunday, December 7 with the Brandt Christmas Races, the perfect opportunity for local businesses and groups to host their Christmas party at the track, with live music, kids activities including Santa\u2019s Workshop, food trucks and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing like the atmosphere here at Stony Creek on race day, and we can\u2019t wait to welcome our community back to the track,\u201d said Jason.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re a racing enthusiast, a family looking for a fun day out or a group planning your Christmas celebration, this season has something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>The full racing calendar includes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sunday, December 7, 2025 \u2013 Brandt Christmas Races<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Tuesday, December 30, 2025<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sunday, January 18, 2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sunday, February 15, 2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sunday, March 8, 2026 \u2013 Ladbrokes Stony Creek Cup Day<\/p>\n<p>Memberships for the 2025\/26 season are now open, offering excellent value, exclusive race day access, and early bird prizes for those who sign up before September 15, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Stony Creek Racing Club (SCRC) is the home of thoroughbred racing in beautiful South Gippsland and home of the triple dead heat in 1987 which made worldwide news. Located two hours from Melbourne on the South Gippsland Highway, it\u2019s a wonderful place for a family day out. Stony Creek races five times a year, starting in December and finishing with the feature event being the Ladbrokes Stony Creek cup on the Labor Day Weekend.
