{"id":403949,"date":"2025-09-07T00:38:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T00:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/403949\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T00:38:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T00:38:14","slug":"leeds-united-news-leeds-eye-man-citys-nico-oreilly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/403949\/","title":{"rendered":"Leeds United News: Leeds eye Man City\u2019s Nico O\u2019Reilly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsallover.com\/tag\/leeds-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds United<\/a> are claimed to be one of multiple Premier League clubs alerted to the possibility of signing Manchester City\u2019s versatile midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsallover.com\/tag\/nico-oreilly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nico O\u2019Reilly<\/a> in the near future.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The transfer window is now shut and Daniel Farke is forced to cope with his current options at Elland Road, having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsallover.com\/daniel-farke-has-basically-said-what-happens-leeds-united-deadline-day-failure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made it very clear he sees Leeds\u2019 survival chances are now slimmer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsallover.com\/new-leeds-united-attacking-targets-profiled-after-daniel-farke-teaser-view\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">without the attacking arrival(s) he wanted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t for the lack of trying on deadline day, but United\u2019s recruitment staff are now going to have to plan for the January window if they still intend to get someone in as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>    Most Read on LeedsAllOver<\/p>\n<p>Leeds United monitoring Nico O\u2019Reilly\u2019s Manchester City situation ahead of possible transfer move<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s very little Leeds can do now to rectify their need for an attacking midfield signing other than compile extensive dossiers on players that may be available in the new year.<\/p>\n<p>One of those could well be Manchester City talent Nico O\u2019Reilly, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caughtoffside.com\/2025\/09\/05\/nico-oreilly-transfer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CaughtOffside<\/a> claim that United are keeping an eye on his situation at the Etihad.<\/p>\n<p>Largely deployed as a deputy full-back, O\u2019Reilly is expected to be short of consistent playing time at Man City this season following another period of hefty spending, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skysports.com\/football\/news\/11661\/13380667\/rayan-ait-nouri-transfer-news-man-city-complete-36-3m-deal-for-wolves-defender#:~:text=Man%20City%20have%20finalised%20a,5.3m%20in%20add%2Dons.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a336million<\/a> left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds are one of the clubs named in the report as an interested party in O\u2019Reilly, alongside league rivals Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Chelsea, plus interest from the continent in the form of Lyon <\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"690\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/2025-03-01T192341Z_176336763_UP1EL311HVFXT_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-MCI-PLY-REPORT-1024x690.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56455\"  \/>(REUTERS\/Jaimi Joy)<\/p>\n<p>As far as Man City\u2019s stance on the player is concerned, it appears as though Man City would much rather keep the 20-year-old after <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FabrizioRomano\/status\/1950890756303941632\">Fabrizio Romano<\/a> revealed a new long-term contract was in the pipeline, despite no official announcement following at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>Guardiola has sang the midfielder\u2019s praises for his versatility in stepping into the side well last season, commenting in April this year.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe impact has been good,\u201d said Guardiola, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/articles\/c74nwnd194jo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t know if these young players are able to play three games a week during a month. But it\u2019s a reality already. I admire a lot that he is playing in a position he has never played before. He is learning. Of course, he has to improve, but with the ball it\u2019s good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis position is \u2013 I\u2019m pretty sure \u2013 attacking midfielder and every cross he is on the penalty spot. That\u2019s what I like as an attacking midfielder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pretty sure [he is a midfielder], otherwise he doesn\u2019t score the goals like he has scored so far.
