{"id":40448,"date":"2025-04-22T07:15:11","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T07:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/40448\/"},"modified":"2025-04-22T07:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T07:15:11","slug":"stocks-news-data-and-earnings-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/40448\/","title":{"rendered":"stocks, news, data and earnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>European markets are expected to return from the long Easter weekend on a positive note.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K.&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FTSE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTSE 100<\/a> index is expected to open 60 points higher at 8,254, Germany&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.GDAXI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DAX<\/a> up 253 points at 21,064, France&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FCHI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CAC<\/a>\u00a081 points higher at 7,241 and Italy&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.FTMIB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTSE MIB<\/a> 441 points higher at 34,967, according to data from IG.<\/p>\n<p>There are no major earnings or data releases from Europe Tuesday but traders will be keeping an eye on news and comment out of the IMF-World Bank Spring meetings in Washington this week, where the threat and fallout from U.S. President Donald Trump&#8217;s tariffs regime is likely to dominate discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets were subdued overnight, tracking Wall Street&#8217;s sharp sell-off after Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/20\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doubled down on his pressure campaign<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/18\/trump-renews-call-for-powell-to-lower-interest-rates-he-should-bring-them-down.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a>\u00a0Chairman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/17\/markets-will-crash-if-trump-can-fire-feds-powell-elizabeth-warren-warns.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jerome Powell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday that the economy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/21\/trump-powell-attacks-interest-rates-fed.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would slow<\/a>\u00a0if the Fed did not cut interest rates. In the latest of multiple recent posts calling out Powell by name, he called the Fed chief &#8220;Mr. Too Late&#8221; and a &#8220;major loser.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump hinted at Powell&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/17\/trump-again-calls-for-fed-to-cut-rates-says-powells-termination-cannot-come-fast-enough.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;termination&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0last week, an unprecedented action that White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett said the president&#8217;s team was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/18\/trump-renews-call-for-powell-to-lower-interest-rates-he-should-bring-them-down.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currently studying.<\/a>\u00a0Powell has said he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2024\/11\/07\/fed-chair-powell-on-whether-the-president-has-the-power-to-fire-him-not-permitted-under-the-law.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cannot be fired<\/a>\u00a0under law and intends to serve through the end of his term in May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CNBC&#8217;s Alex Harring contributed to this market summary<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"European markets are expected to return from the long Easter weekend on a positive note.
