Liverpool may have missed out on Marc Guehi by the end of last Monday’s transfer deadline day, however the saga is far from over. The defender’s final destination is set to be a major topic over the course of the season.<\/p>\n
The Reds almost got a \u00a335m deal<\/a> over the line, only for Crystal Palace to back out in the final hours<\/a> before the deadline. Here, the ECHO<\/strong> looks at the latest headlines surrounding the defender’s future transfer.<\/p>\n January price-tag<\/p>\n Football Insider<\/a> claim if Guehi is to move at the next opportunity in January 2026, Crystal Palace will dock \u00a310m off the total Liverpool were set to pay last week.<\/p>\n The Reds had agreed \u00a335m plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause – here it is said the England international will be worth \u00a325m with six months remaining on his contract.<\/p>\n They believe the future of Ibrahima Konate could impact plans to try again for Guehi. The Frenchman is not far away from the final six months of his own contract at Anfield.<\/p>\n But as the ECHO<\/strong> reported all along, Liverpool have been happy to play a waiting game<\/a> if that means signing Guehi for free next summer.<\/p>\n January transfer chances discussed<\/p>\n Speaking on talkSPORT<\/a>, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes Guehi could ‘easily’ join another club during the next transfer window.<\/p>\n First, he had praise for the 25-year-old in saying: “I\u2019m just a delighted a player has honoured his contract… he didn\u2019t rock any boats, he did what he should have done.<\/p>\n “He made himself available, he was captain at Villa Park [for Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa], and he played his part in their 3-0 victory while also scoring a goal.
