Cops have locked down Princes Street in Edinburgh <\/a>with a building evacuated over a suspicious package sent to a business.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews have descended on capital<\/a> this afternoon with fire and rescue teams and police swarming the area.<\/p>\n

It’s understood a suspicious package was delivered to a commercial premises on the busy main street near Edinburgh Waverley.<\/a><\/p>\n

Police Scotland<\/a> say the building has been evacuated <\/a>with a cordon now in place around the area.<\/p>\n

Major roads have been shut down surrounding the street, with closures in place between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge. Motorists are being diverted away from the scene.<\/p>\n

The road has since reopened and the incident has been stood down.<\/p>\n

It is understood that it was a false call and there were no issues with the package.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Saturday, 6 September, 2025, we received a report that suspicious package had been delivered to a commercial premises on Princes Street, Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

“The building has been evacuated as a precaution.<\/p>\n

“Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance and the package is being examined.<\/p>\n

“A cordon is in place.<\/p>\n

“There are road closures in place along Princes Street between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge.<\/p>\n
