\n “Brodie managed to force him into a room, where he struck him again several times.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Mr Green believed that he was going to die.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Footage of the blood-soaked victim crawling out of his flat was played during the hearing.\n<\/p>\n
\n Brodie sat in the dock with his T-shirt pulled over his head to avoid watching it. He also started hitting himself.\n<\/p>\n
\n The court heard Mr Green cried out as he lay stricken: “Help, help, I am dying.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Others came to his aid and a 999 was made. Brodie, by this time, had left the building.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Green was rushed to hospital suffering from a series of wounds to his head, chest, arms and legs.\n<\/p>\n
\n He needed resuscitated and ended up in intensive care.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Green remained in hospital for 10 days following extensive surgery.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Kathuria said he has been left scarred for life and his injuries “would likely have resulted in death”, but for the medical help.\n<\/p>\n
\n A blood-stained Brodie meantime handed himself into police shortly after the attack.\n<\/p>\n
\n He made a number of remarks including: “Is he dead? I hope he is dead.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The knife used in the murder bid – with an eight-inch blade – was also found.\n<\/p>\n
\n Before adjourning the case, judge Lord Scott told Brodie’s lawyer Ann Ogg: “I do wonder if a risk assessment report may be appropriate and consideration given to an Order for Lifelong Restriction.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This is an appalling act of near fatal violence carried out by someone with a terrible criminal record.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Miss Ogg said Brodie wanted to apologise for what he had done.\n<\/p>\n
\n The solicitor advocate: “You will have seen his reaction to the video – he is clearly shocked at his behaviour.\n<\/p>\n
\n “He wishes me to express his thanks to the medical staff, the police and others for their assistance that they provided to Mr Green.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Had they not, the charge before the court could be very different.”\n<\/p>\n
