Sven Botman remains a crucial Newcastle United player even despite his consistent issues with injury. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Indeed, Newcastle could soon offer Botman a new contract<\/a>, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2027. <\/p>\n

The Dutchman had established himself as one of the Premier League<\/a>\u2019s best central defenders during a glorious first season at St James\u2019 Park<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Newcastle paid around \u00a335million to sign Botman from Lille<\/a> and, when fit, the 25-year-old has looked to be worth every penny of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Still, injuries have taken their toll. Over the last two full seasons, Botman<\/a> has missed 59 games through various injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During a chaotic transfer window, Botman was linked with a surprise move to Bayer Leverkusen<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, more insight has emerged.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Kicker<\/a>, Leverkusen were \u201cdenied access\u201d to Botman. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the former German champions will come up against Eddie Howe<\/a>\u2019s side in the Champions League<\/a> later this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Newcastle<\/a> head to Leverkusen in December for their final Champions League game of the calendar year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The German club have been in chaos this summer. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was sacked after only two games in charge, while they have let a number of key players leave. <\/p>\n

Botman was considered as a potential replacement for Piero Hincapie, who joined Arsenal.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leverkusen were also interested in Newcastle forward William Osula<\/a> but he eventually remained on Tyneside.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sven Botman willing to sign a new contract at Newcastle United <\/p>\n

Paris Saint-Germain have previously been linked with Botman too, although no one is quite sure about just how profoundly those injuries have impacted his career just yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Time will tell on that but if he can get back to anything even approaching his best, Newcastle have quite the player on their hands. <\/p>\n

For his part, Botman is willing to sign a new contract at Newcastle<\/a>. <\/p>\n
