Manchester United are set for a bottom half finish in the Premier League, but Scott McTominay is chasing a title.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sunday saw Manchester United lose 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>, failing to gain momentum from Thursday\u2019s miraculous win over Lyon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United sit 14th in the Premier League table<\/a> and still haven\u2019t reached the 40-point mark.<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim<\/a> will hope for better next season, but former United midfielder Scott McTominay<\/a> has plenty to play for in the final weeks of the season.<\/p>\n

Napoli beat Monza 1-0 on Saturday as McTominay grabbed the only goal of the game.<\/p>\n

Inter Milan then lost to Bologna, meaning Napoli are now level on points in the race for the Serie A title, with five games to play.<\/p>\n

McTominay has now racked up nine goals in 29 Serie A games this season, playing a key role in Napoli\u2019s title charge.<\/p>\n

We saw the Italian media hail McTominay against Empoli<\/a> last week as the midfielder scored twice.<\/p>\n

United sold McTominay to Napoli<\/a> on transfer deadline day last summer, and the Scot has been simply brilliant for Antonio Conte.<\/p>\n

McTominay added another strong performance on Saturday with Napoli looking to land another Scudetto.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the reactions from the Italian media after McTominay\u2019s performance against Monza this weekend\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cMVP again, like against Empoli. The most enterprising, right from the first minutes. The best flashes are his, the position in the left half-space creates headaches for the Monza defense and in fact with one of his classic insertions he finds the 1-0, with a header, scoring his ninth goal in Serie A: the most dominant midfielder in the championship,\u201d said Tuttomercatoweb<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDangerous both from distance and from dead balls in the first half, he rarely attacks the depth. In the second half, however, he is once again the one to unlock it, for the sixth time this season. What can I say: always decisive,\u201d said Eurosport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cConte asked him to score important goals and he continues to score as well as carrying the team on his shoulders. He tries in every way to score, even from distance. A total player,\u201d said Area Napoli<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Napoli will certainly feel that McTominay has been a great signing, having grown into a starring role in Italy.<\/p>\n

Giovanni Manna, Napoli\u2019s sporting director, has now opened up on the move to sign McTominay.<\/p>\n

As quoted by Football Ita<\/a>l<\/a>ia<\/a>, Manna noted that McTominay is a \u2018great player\u2019 who really needed to feel that he was the star of a project.<\/p>\n

United didn\u2019t offer McTominay that, often viewing him as somebody who could come in and do a job if bigger-name stars didn\u2019t perform.<\/p>\n

Napoli have offered McTominay what United didn\u2019t, leaving Manna delighted with their summer raid.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a great player who in my view only needed to feel he was a protagonist at the centre of a project. That is what we did and the coach got the best out of him,\u201d said Manna.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe enjoy him, we feel he is very happy too, and are keeping an eye out to take other opportunities this summer,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
