Liverpool<\/a> defender Ibrahima Konate<\/a> has joked that Kylian Mbappe<\/a> calls him ‘every two hours’ in an attempt to persuade him to join Real Madrid<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Konate is into the final year of his current contract at Anfield, with there being uncertainty over where he will be playing next season.<\/p>\n

Mbappe is close friends with Konate, with the pair both part of the France squad.<\/p>\n

When asked in an interview with Telefoot <\/a>whether Mbappe has tried to convince him to join Real, Konate joked: ‘He calls me every two hours’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The centre-back was then asked if he can speak Spanish, to which he replied ‘no’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Konate and Mbappe have featured in the same game for Les Bleus on 20 occasions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Konate’s Liverpool future is uncertain with the defender having just a year left on his contract<\/p>\n

Since joining Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 Konate has gone on to make 136 appearances for the Reds.<\/p>\n

During his time at Liverpool Konate has won the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although he received praise for some of his previous performances, there have been concerns regarding some of Konate’s displays so far this campaign.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer after his Liverpool contract expired.<\/p>\n

Marca<\/a>\u00a0<\/a>previously reported that Real’s hierarchy have been monitoring Konate’s situation at Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Real have had much success in signing high-profile players on free transfers in recent years, securing deals for the likes of Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba.<\/p>\n

Liverpool officials are said to be concerned about a similar situation potentially occurring with Konate.<\/p>\n

Mbappe was on target as France beat Ukraine 2-0 on Friday, with Konate also starting that game.<\/p>\n
