I nearly didn\u2019t do this because the NPR people were like, \u2018You can\u2019t use anything.\u2019 Then I was like, \u2018Let me try to figure it out and see how it goes.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The performance saw her play stripped-down versions of some of her earliest songs, including \u2018Attracted to You\u2019, where she also played the harmonica, and \u2018Pain\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>She also reimagined her viral hit \u2018Illegal\u2019 into a jazz-inflected version, and played \u2018The Aisle\u2019, \u2018Passion\u2019 and \u2018Tonight\u2019, which included an interpolation of the chorus from \u2018Boys a Liar\u2019. Check it out below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Pink\u2019s latest album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/pinkpantheress-fancy-that-review-3860836\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Fancy That\u2019<\/a>\u00a0was listed on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-features\/best-albums-of-2025-so-far-3872624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NME\u2019s list of the best albums of 2025 so far<\/a>, and the description for the LP read: \u201cNo longer content with being the elusive girl behind the screen, Pinkpantheress proves she can shapeshift, push boundaries and still keep us hooked\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/pinkpantheress-to-become-doctor-of-music-and-shares-new-danny-l-harle-collab-starlight-3878211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the University of Kent awarded her with an honorary doctorate in music<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/pinkpantheress-says-people-are-less-willing-to-listen-to-electronic-music-that-is-made-by-a-black-woman-3882021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke about getting recognition as a Black woman in electronic music, saying she can often feel \u201coverlooked\u201d and misunderstood<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It echoed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/big-reads\/pinkpantheress-cover-interview-2023-take-me-home-ep-3390837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comments she made to\u00a0NME\u00a0in 2023<\/a>, where she said she was glad to be representing her own unique blend of alt-pop and drum\u2019n\u2019bass as a Black woman. \u201cIt\u2019s another example of Black people managing to spearhead a whole genre of music, and I\u2019m really glad I\u2019m the one doing that,\u201d she told us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PinkPantheress gave her first performance without vocal tuning on NPR Tiny Desk \u2013 check it out below.
