Liverpool are one win away from the Premier League title after Sunday\u2019s hard-fought result away to Leicester City.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reds had to rely on a late Trent Alexander-Arnold winner as Liverpool<\/a> secured a massive win at the King Power Stadium, with Arne Slot\u2019s side now just one win away from the biggest prize in English football.<\/p>\n

With Alexander-Arnold stealing all the headlines<\/a>, there hasn\u2019t been much space for other Liverpool players to bask in their own good performance on the day, with Conor Bradley winning praise from Tony Adams<\/a> for his showing against Leicester.<\/p>\n

And Troy Deeney<\/a> has now lauded another Liverpool player who caught the eye against the Foxes on the weekend.<\/p>\n

Writing for BBC Sport<\/a>, the former Watford captain was full of praise for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate<\/a>, with Deeney backing the France international to become a centre-back \u2018that could rival the greats\u2019 in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Deeney said: \u201cLiverpool made hard work of it against Leicester but Konate showed that he is at the top level physically and he is switched on. He could become a great centre-back, possibly one that could rival the greats.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Liverpool struggling to reach an agreement with Konate over a new contract<\/a>, the 25-year-old defender\u2019s future at Anfield remain to be seen with the centre-back\u2019s current deal due to expire next year.<\/p>\n

And with Deeney now lauding Konate as a talent who could become one of the greats in the Premier League, the pressure will be on for Liverpool to strike an agreement with Konate over a new deal, with the French international enjoying his best year yet with the Reds alongside Virgil van Dijk.<\/p>\n

With Liverpool eyeing Dean Huijsen as a new summer signing<\/a> after securing Van Dijk\u2019s future with a new deal<\/a>, things are changing fast for the Reds in the centre-back department, where Slot seems keen to upgrade things over the off-season.<\/p>\n

Yet losing Konate would be a seismic blow for Liverpool and their long-term plans under Slot, who after one season in England looks like a manager who could build a new dynasty in Merseyside that can dominate the Premier League for years to come.<\/p>\n
