Certain UK households will automatically get the Winter Fuel Payment worth up to \u00a3300 from the Department for Work and Pensions ( <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/dwp\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">DWP<\/a> ) this winter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Warm Home Discount also helps struggling households and is worth \u00a3150 which is deducted from bills. The Cold Weather Payment is worth another \u00a325 and kicks in each time temperatures dip over a seven-day stretch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">You can use a benefits calculator to help check for money you are entitled to, and make sure you don&#8217;t miss out on the extra help for bills. And ahead of the energy price cap rising in October, households can apply for free energy grants worth up to \u00a31,700.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/cost-of-living\/anyone-standard-energy-tariff-urged-32355788\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE Anyone on standard energy tariff urged to act with 22 million at risk<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The British Gas Individual and Families Fund is open to prepayment meter customers who are between \u00a350 and \u00a31,700 in energy debt &#8211;
