{"id":406535,"date":"2025-09-08T00:40:39","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T00:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/406535\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T00:40:39","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T00:40:39","slug":"three-charged-as-police-continue-probe-into-weekend-protests-across-edinburgh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/406535\/","title":{"rendered":"Three charged as police continue probe into weekend protests across Edinburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Three men have been charged for terror-related offences after protests in Edinburgh on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A \u201cNo to the Far-Right\u201d protest, organised by Stand Up To Racism Edinburgh, took place at the Scottish Parliament on Saturday, with protestors starting to gather from 11am.<\/p>\n<p>A Force For Good, in association with WeSayItPodcast, held a second Enough is Enough rally, also outside the Scottish Parliament, from 12pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Many also displayed support for Palestine Action, a group that was banned by the UK government under terrorism laws earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The protest came after warnings from Police Scotland that showing support for the organisation is an offence under the Terrorism Act.<\/p>\n<p>Two men, aged 67 and 82, were arrested and charged in connection with the Terrorism Act, while a 63-year-old man was arrested in connection with a hate crime.<\/p>\n<p>He has also since been charged.<\/p>\n<p>Police said that enquiries remain ongoing into a number of offences relating to the Terrorism Act and that evidence is being reviewed with further action expected.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Superintendent David Robertson said: \u201cWhile these protests were conducted peacefully and largely without incident, there were a number of offences identified relating to the Terrorism Act.
