\n Workers at Enable in Glasgow and Lanarkshire will strike on Tuesday, September 9, and Thursday, September 11, following months of industrial action over pay.\n<\/p>\n
\n The dispute centres on a call for care workers\u2019 pay to be brought in line with NHS rates, a promise the union says has not been fulfilled by the Scottish Government<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n \n READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0New mural to be unveiled at Enable Glasgow\u2019s Garden Centre Open Day<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \n Christina McAnea, general secretary of Unison, said: “These care workers have been underpaid for far too long.\n<\/p>\n \n “Going on strike is the last thing they want to do, but they\u2019ve been left with no other option.\n<\/p>\n \n “They deliver vital care to some of the most vulnerable people in the country, yet their wages simply aren\u2019t enough to live on.\n<\/p>\n \n “The Scottish government must do the right thing by better funding social care and showing workers that they value them by paying them fair, decent wages.”\n<\/p>\n \n READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong>Travel warning for Brits heading on holiday to Spain amid new airport strikes<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \n According to Unison, care workers have missed out on around \u00a35500 in pay since April 2022.\n<\/p>\n \n Rallies will be held in both Glasgow and Lanarkshire, with workers set to deliver symbolic “invoices” to the office of Neil Gray<\/a>, Cabinet Secretary for Health<\/a> and Social Care.\n<\/p>\n \n The union argues that the dispute could be resolved by the Scottish Government<\/a>, which sets pay rates for care workers.\n<\/p>\n \n Previous strikes took place in May and June, marking the first care worker walkouts in Scotland in a decade.\n<\/p>\n
