We had the privilege of knowing him, and playing with him for over fifty years. We offer our sincere condolences to Sue Davies,&#8217; the band&#8217;s public statement read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The music collective was known for hits including Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, and Take the Long Way Home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">They racked up four Grammy nominations during their time together, including 1980&#8217;s Album of the Year category for Breakfast in America.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Two of their albums went diamond in Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Following their 1982 album, titled &#8230;Famous Last Words&#8230;, Hodgson exited the band in pursuit of a solo career after creative disputes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Davies and the remaining members stayed together, and the following decades saw the bandmates reunite sporadically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Their final album, Slow Motion, was released in 2002.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In 2015, the year Davies was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, they orchestrated a 25-date European tour, but the endeavor was cancelled due to Davies&#8217; health issues.<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-196dd02436f9616e\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/101927551-15075635-image-a-66_1757294672322.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\" alt=\"Davies was born in 1944 in Swindon, England. He&#8217;d celebrated his birthday just weeks ago on July 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">He ventured into music as a young boy, becoming a drummer and later a keyboardist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">According to <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/music\/news\/supertramp-rick-davies-bloody-well-right-dead-1236511107\/\">Variety<\/a>, one of his first bands, called Rick\u2019s Blues, included Alone Again, Naturally singer Gilbert O&#8217;Sullivan. Sending condolences and gratitude to his family. #RIP.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Another fan shared, &#8216;His lyrics accompanied me in joys and crises, his songs made me think, question, and feel. I formed myself personally and politically listening to him.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The person added, &#8216;Today, we need more music that moves us, that makes us think about justice, vulnerability.
