PA Media<\/p>\n<p>Also riding for the fundraiser \u2013 which started and finished at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow \u2013 were sailor Sir Ben Ainslie, swimmers Duncan Scott and Rebecca Adlington and Paralympian cyclist and swimmer, Dame Sarah Storey.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow cycling stars Sir Mark Cavendish and Sir Jason Kenny also took part to show their support along with others who, like Sir Chris, are suffering from stage 4 cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The event on Sunday raised a total of \u00a32,135,406, with the cash going to five charities \u2013 Breast Cancer Now, Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Maggie\u2019s and Prostate Cancer UK.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking afterwards Sir Chris said: \u201cI am totally overwhelmed by today, the support we have received and the amazing people who came to Glasgow \u2013 it\u2019s incredible.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/c8cc5c13f3deaab04b91b5c3c5ef5061-1757312416.jpg\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1536\"   alt=\"Former Olympian Sir Chris Hoy waved to supporters during Sunday\u2019s event (TGI Sport\/PA).\"\/>PA MediaFormer Olympian Sir Chris Hoy waved to supporters during Sunday\u2019s event (TGI Sport\/PA). PA Media<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I first set out to create this event I plucked \u00a31m out of the air as it sounded like a pretty decent amount to raise!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we have more than doubled that and I am so delighted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cEvery single person who has ridden, fundraised or donated \u2013 this is down to you. PA Media<\/p>\n<p>But he said with time the disease becomes \u201cjust a part of your life\u201d, adding that you \u201cdon\u2019t have to be defined by it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to other people suffering with cancer he said: \u201cTo anybody who is going through a similar thing, just hang on tight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll get through it, it\u2019ll get easier.
