Hull FC<\/a> ensured Rovers, who won the Challenge Cup back in June, go into the final two rounds four points clear and with a points difference so superior only a freak set of results would see them miss out.<\/p>\nBut Peters insisted the focus remains on the next game as his side heads to Wakefield on Saturday, knowing they have a big task on their hands.<\/p>\n
“We’re aware that we’re in a position to win the League Leaders’ Shield,” he said. “We’ve said all along we want to go after every trophy available and we’re still in a position to go after that. We’ve a game next week; that’s the focus. We have to improve next week.<\/p>\n
“If and when it happens, I’m more than happy to share my views. Next week is the focus.”<\/p>\n
Asked if they can celebrate a domestic double just yet, he said: “No. Not yet. I might have a beer after this but I’m not celebrating league leaders \u2013 not a chance in the world. It will be to settle the nerves and help me sleep tonight.<\/p>\n
“The way Wigan are playing, there’s no doubt and we’re aware it’s not ours until we get the points. It’s a good thing in the sense of we need to keep sharp at this time of year. This week we play a team that is desperate to win to make the six.<\/p>\n
“What we did today won’t cut it next week. Honestly, I’m just focusing on that. If it’s next week, great; if it comes down to the last game, then that’s how we manage it.”<\/p>\n
On his side’s performance, Peters said: “That’s exactly what we wanted to do today \u2013 win. It wasn’t pretty, it was very scrappy, derbies can be. But we needed to win and we got that. We move on and look to improve and we’ll have to do that against Wakefield at their place.<\/p>\n
“I thought we got the first 20 minutes right in terms of line speed and building pressure.
