Images of how two new tower blocks containing 500 flats could transform the skyline of a north Manchester district have been released.<\/p>\n

LWP Redbank Ltd has launched a public consultation on plans to transform 50\u201354 Red Bank, just north of the city centre, between the Green Quarter and Cheetham Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The home-builder describes the area as \u2018a key gateway to the Northern Gateway regeneration area\u2019.<\/p>\n

The developer\u2019s vision is to put up two towers of 18 and 43 storeys. They would contain 509 new homes, made up of one, two and three-bedroom flats.<\/p>\n

The developer said that if the plans are approved residents would benefit from shared amenities, landscaped outdoor areas and sweeping city views.<\/p>\n

LWP Redbank said the proposals will be submitted as two concurrent planning applications. One would cover the new homes and public realm around the towers and the other would focus on further public realm improvements and future access to the historic viaduct.<\/p>\n

At ground level, new commercial units will be built close to existing businesses in the Red Bank arches. More than 2,000 sqm of open space would link the towers to the viaduct.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the project team, said: \u201cRed Bank is fast becoming a creative and vibrant part of Manchester, and our vision is to build on this character to create a distinctive new neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese proposals bring forward much-needed homes, alongside new public space, and active ground floor uses that will add to the life of the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to hearing what local people think during our consultation which is being held until 3rd October.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manchester City Council\u2019s Northern Gateway strategic regeneration framework<\/p>\n

LWP Redbank added that the development is aligned with Manchester City Council\u2019s Northern Gateway strategic regeneration framework, which aims to deliver around 15,000 new homes over the next 10 to 15 years.<\/p>\n

Red Bank has been identified for its distinctive landmark buildings of scale.<\/p>\n

A consultation drop-in event will take place at GRUB MCR, 50 Red Bank, Cheetham Hill, M4 4HF, on Wednesday, 17th September (3\u20137 pm), with feedback also encouraged online here<\/a> and by email at [email\u00a0protected]<\/a>.<\/p>\n
