Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>He expressed regret over not doing a \u201ccleaner hand off\u201d and \u201ckind of winging it\u201d during the \u201csurreal morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cohen, who said the channel would be called \u201cAndy 100,\u201d noted that he couldn\u2019t \u201cpossibly fill [Stern\u2019s] void\u201d and was certain the 71-year-old would land another network soon.<\/p>\n<p>Stern subsequently took over, thanking Cohen for taking part in the gag.<\/p>\n<p>However, he tricked listeners Monday morning. Getty Images for SiriusXM<\/p>\n<p>Stern\u2019s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Reports surfaced last month that the shock jock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/08\/06\/celebrity-news\/howard-sterns-siriusxm-show-in-jeopardy-as-500m-contract-nears-its-end-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show was in jeopardy<\/a> as his $500 SiriusXM contract neared its end.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Daily Mail claimed the firing rumors <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/08\/21\/celebrity-news\/inside-howard-sterns-desperate-bid-to-stay-relevant-as-firing-rumors-rage-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were a \u201cdesperate hoax\u201d to boost Stern\u2019s ratings<\/a> and keep him \u201crelevant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fans gushed over the gag \u2014 although some called Stern \u201cnauseating.\u201d Michael Zorn\/Invision\/AP<\/p>\n<p>Last month, news broke that Stern\u2019s future at the network was in jeopardy. Kevin Mazur<\/p>\n<p>SiriusXM\u2019s president, Scott Greenstein, said at a conference Wednesday that he <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/09\/04\/celebrity-news\/siriusxm-president-and-ceo-address-howard-stern-show-cancellation-rumors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cwould love\u201d Stern to stay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt certainly has to make sense, but we feel pretty good that we\u2019ve done this before,\u201d he said last week. \u201cWe\u2019ll see where it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz said at the time that they were \u201cconfident [they would] get to the right place\u201d with their \u201ccore\u201d talent.<\/p>\n<p>He was supposed to return to the air last week but unexpectedly canceled.
