{"id":408318,"date":"2025-09-08T17:19:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T17:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/408318\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T17:19:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T17:19:12","slug":"temporary-licence-granted-for-oktoberfest-to-operate-in-princes-street-gardens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/408318\/","title":{"rendered":"Temporary licence granted for Oktoberfest to operate in Princes Street Gardens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh\u2019s Oktoberfest has been given a temporary licence to operate in Princes Street Gardens this year.<\/p>\n<p>Running from Friday, October 3 until Sunday, October 5, the festival will host almost 600 people in a large tent at the western end of the gardens.<\/p>\n<p>On the Friday, it will run from 4pm until 11pm, on Saturday from 11am to 11pm, and on Sunday from 12.30am to 7.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration has run since 2013, with this year\u2019s incarnation set to host 599 people \u2013 though its website states it will hold 1,000.<\/p>\n<p>Rentals for Lederhosen and Dirndl are available \u2013 however, the website says that if visitors are willing to lose their rental deposit, they \u2018can just also keep them\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Student tickets, only usable on the Sunday, will be available from \u00a310, with general admission running from \u00a315 most days \u2013 but pricier options are available.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can get a ticket to sit together for between \u00a335 and \u00a355, and VIP tickets are available for \u00a369 each day \u2013 including a glass of sparkling wine and a seat next to the band.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a corporate ticket will run \u00a3110 \u2013 and devoted attendees can rent out a VIP box seating eight people for \u00a31,200 per day.<\/p>\n<p>One mass, about 1.5 times the size of a normal pint, will cost \u00a314 \u2013 though many tickets come with one drink included.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the student tickets include one drink, but the general admission ones do not.<\/p>\n<p>Food will be available, with some tickets coming with various foodstuffs included, such as schnitzel or potato salad.<\/p>\n<p>Police Scotland asked for standard licensing conditions to be applied to the festivities, which were granted.<\/p>\n<p>One of the organisers, attending via Microsoft Teams, said: \u201cThank you very much for your time, and we will do the event as we did in other years, and we are happy to agree on all the conditions from the police also.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By Joseph Sullivan Local Democracy Reporter<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"m-a-box-avatar-url\" href=\"https:\/\/theedinburghreporter.co.uk\/author\/local-democracy-reporter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757351952_19_997040f7785cbef2300280875f3a0cea3c64d7b84d4b24ea06e0bc6fbe9d4852\"  class=\"avatar avatar-100 photo\" height=\"100\" width=\"100\" itemprop=\"image\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) is a public service news agency.
