ByteDance [388 articles]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/companies\/bytedance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ByteDance<\/a>-owned app revealed Friday (September 5) that it has reached more than <strong>200 million<\/strong> monthly users in the region.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s up from <strong>175 million<\/strong> people last year, and approaching a third of the population of the continent across the <strong>EEA<\/strong> and <strong>UK<\/strong>, the company noted.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, roughly <strong>one<\/strong> in <strong>three<\/strong> citizens in Europe use the app monthly, according to TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the milestone, <strong>Marlene Masure<\/strong>, General Manager, Content Operations, for EMEA said: \u201cOur European community goes from strength to strength, with more than 200 million people now regularly coming to TikTok to be entertained, learn new hobbies or skills and make a living.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img class=\"lazyload\"  data-\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur European community goes from strength to strength, with more than 200 million people now regularly coming to TikTok to be entertained, learn new hobbies or skills and make a living.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marlene Masure, TikTok<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Added Masure: \u201cAs our community grows, so does the economic, cultural and societal impact that TikTok adds to Europe\u2019s rich ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom bringing the arts to new audiences, to inspiring a new generation of readers and seeing small businesses flourish and create growth and jobs, TikTok has helped contribute positively to so many stories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn TikTok, ideas have turned into careers, passions into viable businesses, niche interests into thriving communities, and I want to thank the more than 200 million people that make TikTok what it is today across Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to TikTok, 32 countries are included in this \u2018Monthly Active Recipients (MAR) figure\u2019 of <strong>200 million<\/strong> users.<\/p>\n<p>They include: <strong>Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, <\/strong>and the<strong> UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest figure for these <strong>32<\/strong> countries arrives just a few days after TikTok released its fifth transparency report on content moderation in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>In the report, TikTok <a class=\"link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.tiktok.com\/en-eu\/digital-services-act-our-fifth-transparency-report-on-content-moderation-in-europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> the average number of \u2018monthly active recipients\u2019 in the European Union, broken down by each EU Member State between January 1 to June 30, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to TikTok, there were <strong>169.7 million<\/strong> monthly users across the 27 states of the European Union as of the end of June.<\/p>\n<p>The app\u2019s three largest markets\u00a0within the European Union were\u00a0<strong>France<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Germany,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Italy,<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0<strong>27.8 million, 25.7 million,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>23.9 million<\/strong>, respectively (see below).<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link-internal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/files\/2025\/09\/Screenshot-2025-09-05-at-16.51.29.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img class=\"lazyload\" bad-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Screenshot-2025-09-05-at-16.51.29-80x54.jpg\"  data-\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>TikTok\u2019s latest <strong>200 million<\/strong> user stat is for the broader European region, including the 27 EU states listed above,<a class=\"link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/eu-eea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0EEA <\/a>nations, plus Switzerland and the UK (which left the EU after Brexit).<\/p>\n<p>That means that the five non-EU countries included within the 200 million stat (<strong>Iceland<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Liechtenstein<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Norway<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Switzerland<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<strong>UK) <\/strong>collectively account for roughly\u00a0<strong>30 million<\/strong> of TikTok\u2019s monthly users in the broader European region.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere on Friday, TikTok noted that there are now \u201cmillions of businesses\u201d on its platform across Europe. The company cites stats from Oxford Economics suggesting that activities of small and medium-sized enterprises (<a class=\"link-relationship\" title=\"Companies &gt; Sony Music Entertainment [1,926 articles]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/companies\/sony\/sony-music-group\/sony-music-entertainment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SME<\/a>s) on TikTok added <strong>\u20ac4.8 billion<\/strong> to the economies of Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium and supported more than <strong>51,000<\/strong> jobs.<\/p>\n<p>TikTok also announced last week that it has expanded its SoundOn music distribution service into Germany, one of the flagship social app\u2019s largest markets in Europe.Music Business Worldwide<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"TikTok has reached a significant milestone in Europe.
