Leeds United waved goodbye to 13 senior players during the summer window, a large portion of which were a part of Daniel Farke\u2019s promotion-winning side during 2024-25.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But of the 13 players, Leeds did not want to sell two of them permanently. Valencia removed a permanent clause in Ramazani\u2019s loan deal to keep the deal alive<\/a>, and it was a similar story with striker Joseph.<\/p>\n

Joseph has since played three times for Mallorca, facing both Real Madrid and Barcelona in what has been a tough start for his new side. Joseph has also started the last two games, a substitute in the first.<\/p>\n

Not only has Joseph broken into Mallorca\u2019s starting XI, but his chances of game time have just improved thanks to one of Jesse Marsch\u2019s Canada stars. Cyle Larin has left Mallorca to join Feyenoord on loan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While he is yet to score his first goal or secure a first win under Real Mallorca, Joseph was asked what it was like to live in Leeds by Diario De Mallorca<\/a>. He says that things were a lot harder off the pitch at Leeds.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot the same. There aren\u2019t as many things to do, but I knew it was the place I needed to be. It\u2019s not the prettiest place, but it\u2019s cozy. I lived near the training camp, I used that time to focus on what I had to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robbie Evans told numerous media outlets covering Leeds last week that part of the reason that Leeds chose not to allow Joseph to join a club wanting a permanent clause was due to Paraag Marathe.<\/p>\n

The Leeds chairman is said to be a big fan of Joseph. As per BBC Sport<\/a>, Evans said: \u201cWe think very highly of Mateo. He needs the minutes. Every team that was trying to take him on loan was requiring an option.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe simply said there\u2019s no way you\u2019re getting an option on this player. Our hope is he has a phenomenal season at Mallorca and comes back. He\u2019s a favourite of the club and the chairman, hope he does great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph is now too old to represent Spain\u2019s U21 side, meaning for once, the striker has enjoyed a break during the international period.
